I know…B&O virus has grown on me !
I use Deezer HI-FI with the B&O App. On the HALO the last played Deezer playlist is user, but i World love to select Deezer playlist from HALO just like TuneIn favorits.
You can of course use Roon with many B&O speakers, though not the 50s / 90s / 18s / 20s etc etc without other 3rd party equipment.
`I used Roon with my A9 and BS2 - my Roon server talk to them via Airplay.
It would of course be nice if the entire range was Roon Ready - in that way a Roon server would just see them all as Roon (rather than AP) end-points.
I have a Linn streamer into my 50s, which makes the 50s Roon-able BUT the 50s cannot be grouped with my A9 / BS2.
Roon will only group speakers together using the same protocol.
Deezer HiFi for me due to B&O and BMW integration

Sorry for the slow response, but it's very close to a beosound 2 in my estimation. But I will be doing a proper review/comparison and let you know. The sound is very impressive for the size on the level and especially the price compared to either a bs1 or bs2. So, more to come!

Hi Michael & co,
I would like to get your opinion on speaker roles for my new B&O living room setup so that I can get the best out of my system. Happy for you to discuss here or on the podcast. Unfortunately I’m in Australia so I cant join you live but I watch every week on YouTube.
When I started planning my new house, I kept in mind what you guys have been saying about height channels, and when a 4.1 BeoLab14 became available I jumped at the chance to get it for ceiling mounted speakers. Below is a marked-up plan of my living room along with where all the B&O products are going.
The numbers correspond as follows –
1 – BeoVision Harmony77 – Centre
2 – BeoLab14 Sub – Sub
3 – BeoLab18 – Front L&R
4 – BeoLab18 – Surround L&R
5 – BeoLab14 Satelite -???
6 – BeoLab14 Satelite -???
The four BeoLab14s will be ceiling mounted with a custom mount so that they are flat to ceiling pointing down but slightly angled towards the listening position.
My question is what role should I set the BeoLab14s? At the moment I’m thinking I have following options –
Option 1 –
5=Surround Height L&R
6=Front Height L&R
Option 2 –
5=Back Surround L&R
6=Surround Height L&R
Option 3 –
Does one of these options make the most sense? Have I missed an option?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Also happy to start a separate thread if you think that’s best 😊
Kind regards,
Dion.
BeoVision Harmony77 G1 with BeoLab18 x 4 & BeoLab14 4.1 (7.1.4); BeoPlayA9 Mk4; BeoSound2; BeoSound1 x 2; BeoPlayH95; BeoPlayE6; BeoPlayH3 ANC
..and it all started 20 years ago with a pair of B&O A8 Earphones...
@Dion
You have some good stuff there ;-)
I’d also look forward to what the guys in the podcast have to say.
However, my two cents now would be, that you might consider swapping 4 and 6.
The 18’s as surround speakers would be better at the height of the sofa there or sleughtly behind - placed on each side.
As for the 14-satelites in the ceiling I’d consider one set above the 18’s/surrounds as surround heights....
....and the other pair either as rear speakers or rear heights.
First get the layout of your basic speakers up and running and then do some tests with the rears/heights.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Just in case Captain Erik isn't present to jolt you out of your preconceived design notions, you might also view this on the show:
https://cleeraudio.com/wireless-smart-speakers/crescent/
A la mode d' un Zeppelin, but nowadays "anybody" can do audio beamforming with multiple drivers, not just B&O. (They have products called "Halo" and "Stage" too, completely different, run-of-the-mill stuff. Not sure who's copying whose product naming!)
Heh, I did say "design" notions, not ultimate product preferences! I never liked Ligne Roset's "Togo" sofa either. But their original Peter Maly bed graces a guest room to this day. Regarding the Crescent speaker, nobody can even say what it sounds like yet. But showing it by way of comparison/contrast could be fun -- just replay Willie's take on the Sennheiser Ambeo design.
Hi All, to answer the questions raised so far -
@Michael -
Very happy for you to discuss this on the podcast...I'm looking forward to it!
In terms of setup - it will all be finished around June, however I'll start pulling the cables in the next couple of weeks.
I absolutely plan on setting up a couple of different speaker groups :) That's one of the best parts of a BeoVision!
Yes, all four BeoLab14s are ceiling mounted.
I am still to pull the cables but it is an existing house so it's a little tricky. Essentially what I have drawn up is about as good as I can do so that all cables are completely hidden (which is very important to me). I can move each speaker a little (maybe upto a metre), but not far from where they are shown on the drawing.
@Millemissen -
I completely understand why you would suggest swapping the position of the rear BeoLab18s, however I wouldn't be happy with floor standing speakers essentially in the middle of the room, hence pushing them back to wall. I know this isn't ideal but its a trade off of functionality/looks vs sound quality. That said, still very interested in hearing your thoughts.
Well, in case the layout really is fixed (due to looks), I’d simply try option 2 and 3 in different Speaker Groups in order to se what fit you best.
It might even be that one option is better for some purposes (sources) and the other for other purposes.
Hint - if you stay with the layout as in the pic, you might also try out a 2.1 group consisting of the two BL18’s at the wall (as seen in the pic on the right side) and the sub.
Might be nice for casual listening in the dining area.
I guess that posses another question (for here and the podcast perhaps) -
Because of the the speaker positions that I have to work with, is it a waste to install all four Beolab14 satellites? Is installing two at position 5 OR 6 really all I need?
I should also mention that I could install one satellite above the tv in the Centre Front Height position, but from everything I have heard/read it didn't seem that this would be a well utilised channel (just pulling the centre channel higher up) when the Harmony sound centre is so capable? Plus I only have four satellites in total to work with.
