You guys are sooo young: That is not a speed wheel on the B&O razor, it's a kick-starter for the motor! You took your finger and pushed it into the half-moon slot, then flicked it to the right to set the motor spinning! (The "dial" is actually mounted directly on the motor spindle, has radial divots, and doesn't stick out, but is recessed into the body.) Why did a small electric motor need to be hand-started -- modern electric razors don't? Because it would run on either AC or DC! Ask your grandfather -- or more likely your grandmother -- because most "real men" used double-edged blade "safety" razors.

Although I haven’t worked out how to post a picture, my BR1 is an early IR model. No crunchy keys, rattles or wonky screens. Fits perfectly flush with the aluminium, even after being dropped a few times by my beloved 3 year old (it’s not yours till you dent it, right?)
found the transition from the BEO4 difficult at first, but a few years in I absolutely love the BR1 - one of the things B&O has really got right in recent years. It’s so much more friendly to be able to intuitively name sources and guests really appreciate that. My only gripe is a lack of a light button (easily remedied by assigning one of the ‘personal’ keys). Also the homecontrol function would benefit from its own key, especially as HA systems are becoming cheaper and more common.
Does this work with the Stage too? Haven’t been able to test yet.
