Hi all,

How do I go about connecting a subwoofer to a Yamaha CR-1020 (yes - old and beautiful) with a pair of beolab 8000 speakers connected to the pre-out (on the Yamaha)

(I have a Martin Logan Dynamo 1000W subwoofer but I don't have to use that.)

This is purely for playing music (vinyl and streaming).

I don't really have the budget for a Beolab 2 or Beolab 11

Thanks,

/jakob

Hi jakob,

Yes, I can help!  Here are the cables you need to connect the Beolab 8000 speakers to the pre-out sockets of your Yamaha receiver:-

https://soundsheavenly.com/line-in-connection/av-processor-pre-amp-sonos-to-beolab-rca-line-in

Please set both speakers to "Line" mode using the small switch next to the input sockets.  You need one cable for each pair of speakers.

Please ask if you need any further help.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Thank you Steve - I did find your site and the cables.

What I'm uncertain of is how I connect the receiver (no subwoofer out/lfe) to the subwoofer and the Beolab 8000 speakers.

Is there a subwoofer that I connect to my receiver's pre-out and from the subwoofer to the beolab 8000s?

Thanks,

Jakob

Hi Jakob,

Sorry, I forgot to mention the subwoofer Embarrassed

You can connect this with another stereo RCA to stereo RCA cable from the receiver and then use a couple of 2-into-1 RCA splitters at the receiver to let the subwoofer and the Beolabs share the receiver pre-out sockets (I can add the splitters free with the cables - please let me know if this is of interest).

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.
