Hi all,

I have acquired a pair of very old RL140's and opened them up for a refoam job, but then something strange caught my eye, the insides of the rear frame looked different in this matched pair (same single owner since the 80:ies and same serial nr, an early one 3372001 model 6501)

One has these metal plates afixed with glue, and the otehr rear frame lacks them completely.

Any ideas, a Danish worker just forgot to mount them on this one speaker? Or

What kind of implications would you think this has on sound, teh two speakers being different in this way?

None.
I believe this is merely magnetic shielding.
Perhaps one speaker had its back cover replaced at some point, and the metal plates weren't transferred.

Thanks Martin, a bit strange but aslong as it have not effect on sound.

I do think it was not there originally, the stickers on the back with serial etc indicate it is the original rear piece, and there is absolutely no sign of any glue, melting or any trace of anything ever been mounted on the one lacking plates.

In anycase, thanks!

My big trouble is getting the foamglue here through the mail while we still have several degrees below zero in Sweden, and the glue is not supposed to freeze or it will be useless...lets see how it goes.
