Hello! My BeoLab 2 has recently developed a rattle when playing at anything over a hum. It sounds like a piece of metal hanging around in the driver. I confirmed this when I opened it up and when tilting the driver back and forth I can hear a clang around where the magnet is. It doesn't look like this is very repairable without a whole new driver (B&O quoted $995)

Anyone know of where I can buy parts or how to repair? I haven't been able to find a way to disassemble the driver unit without damaging it.

Thanks!

Voice coil rub. Can be either the winding become unglued due to overheating (not good) or something fell into the gap. Usually that's the voice coil overload heating up, becoming unglued - usually this only gets worse.

just replace the driver.

If anyone is wondering, I did fix this by getting the driver model (I cant find it again sorry!) from a B&O service center and buying a new driver from them (its made by Tympany).

I was able to repair the driver, it turned out the aluminum cylinder that separates the VC from the magnet motor came unglued. I spent hours removing all the spider's, the magnet from the driver and then 3D printing a jig to glue the magnet centered again to the motor. Not worth it but I learned a ton!

I used the driver in my car in a ported box however I blew it up running at 600W RMS. Smelled lovely.

How much did B&O charge for a replacement driver? Can you post the driver model/part number?

Thanks!

I think it was arround $800. I honestly can’t remember or find the part number or repair center I got it from. I know it’s a custom driver from tymphanny like many of b&o products.

B&O gave me the number of the repair center then I called and asked to buy the part only.
