Hi. I've just purchased a beocentre 7007. After a bit of work it is all functioning now. Can anyone advise if the audio AMP is equivalent to the 7700?  I'm now looking for some good speakers to pair with it- after a bit of searching I think I would like the ***  or ***. Can anyone advise where I could purchase these in whatever condition- (apart from the the well known auction site!). Thank you

Welcome to Beoworld !

The amplifier in Beocenter 7007 is identical to that in Beocenter 7700.

I’ve used a 7007 with a number of different B&0 passive speakers from an old pair of 1700s; the small but relatively inefficient CX100s; the excellent S45.2a and the MC120.2s. The last two are excellent speakers heard to their best on the correct stands. The 120’s have the advantage of being almost exact contemporaries of the 7007

Thanks both.

Although I'm looking to buy the S120 or MC120.2 speakers, I'm not sure if these are the best match for my 7007. I think that according the the b&o catalogue, the recommended speakers for the 7007 are the S55, and for the 7700 the S80.2. However, as Dillon confirms, the 7700 and 7007 have the same AMP so I guess the S80.2 could be the best recommendation for the 7007 too.

The reason I was looking for the S120s instead of the recommended ones is that they are contemporary speakers and I've read in a few places that they are well regarded. However whether they are the best match for a 7007 I do not know and would welcome any advice.

The problem with speakers are that they are very personal choices. What I may like is not necessarily what you would like.

I can give you a description of many B&O speakers but listening to them for yourself is better but sadly almost impossible.

If I had a 7700 (lucky you - possibly the best sounding music centre made by B&O), I would think of:

S45.2 - on stands - these are very compact speakers which sound better than they have any right to do. They are bass light but what is there is accurate and the top end is great. My favourite speakers after my BBC LS3/5as.

S75 - on stands - The S45s bigger brother - adds bass to the mix but is can be a little uncontrolled so more but not always better - very detailed top end and this can verge on brightness - or could when my hearing was better! I had a pair for years - the rosewood finish was stunning.

S80s - on stands - I never liked these as much as I thought I would - I was given them by my dealer ( for free !) but they were always a little dull - I gave them to Tim who recapped them and said they were much better.

S55s - on stands - these were Tim's speaker of choice with his 5000 system - quite like the S45.2 - bass light - I don't think they are quite as good - the tweeters in the later uniphase speakers seem to shriek at higher volumes.

S120s - on stands - I have a pair - mine are the ones shown on Beocentral - I mistakenly replaced the woofers with some peerless ones - still sound very good but possibly not the same as they should have done. A bit bass light despite the bass reflex port. The later uniphase speakers are not nearly as nicely finished as the first ones - the porting is quite crude.

M100s - on stands - Monsters - I use these as my BM4401 speakers - very detailed bass and generally great speakers, if you have the room. The 7700 is more than capable of driving any of the B&O range.

Don't rule out the P45 wall mounted speakers - these are very like the S45.2 in sound and are very space efficient - not sure what I did with mine!
