Hi,

as a few of you already experimented with the Beosound Essence MK1 and infrared remote control:
Would you share which ir eye can be used with the MK1 and how is the wiring of the RJ-45 network cable to the ir-eye?

Thank you, Millemissen. So I need one of the newer Ir-eyes with the "Join" label or does it work with the old ones, too?
I've read somewhere here in the forum, that the newer variants are using different electronics but I can't find/remember exactly.

The old eye works with my mk2 essence. Just attach it like MM his picture. You can only receive beo 4 commands volume on eye and join will not work. You cannot touch it.

Therefore I bought a join eye, turns green, however I prefer the old eye, it “clicks” better but works just as the old one on an active/passive kit.

Hi mm

I hope you dont mind me asking can this be used with an old active? I know the buttons wont work but can I use beo4 to press source in my case it will just be the pc command to activate local source on the active kit

Old thread here...

Hi

According to B&O support and Steve from Soundsheavenly, the IR function is still not implemented in the mk1 in 2020.

Hi CB

The question was can the new ir with rj45 replace the orginal sensor on say an active, I think the answer is yes

Further to the wiring diagram supplied by MM is the wiring sequence/order the same for the older IR eye with the Timer/Play buttons.

When I quickly looked at the older IR eye it appeared the the connections were in a different order.

I want to temporarily connect an older IR eye with a RJ45 connection to a Core. I’ve ordered the newer Join version but have no idea when it will arrive.

Thanks

Peter

I think it will work but you have to see which wires go to each terminal I'm pretty sure it will work I'm trying to it the opposite way I dont have any old sensors, so I need to get the new and wire it so it will work with the older beolink active I know the buttons wont work, but beo4 should work

I tried an old IR eye on my essence mk2 and it didn't work, I may have wired it up wrong though if you say the terminals are in a different order.

It wont work with the physical buttons on the ir, but dont see why it would not work with the beo4, I think it's a question of which wires work in which terminal

I’ll have a play on the weekend with the wiring and see if I can get it to work

That’s connected with RJ45?

Could you let me know the wiring pin configuration of the RJ45 plug and the IR eye.

Thanks

Peter
