I am having trouble with my old BEOMASTER 1700, it keeps moving the Fm stations, by this I mean I have to keep re-tuning in the stations. I have lost the bottom end (Radio two in the UK) and gained the top end.

Any one know why this happens and how to rectify it!

Check the tuning voltage on 7R105 for drift.

- If it drifts, check the voltage on 7R4 for drift. If it drifts here too, check the
zener diodes 7D1-4 and related capacitors.

- If the zener voltage is steady, check the 7R9 trimmer and 7C10.

Still no luck, check the AFC circuit and the capacitance diodes in the front end.

Hi Martin,

I was looking for a bit of a simpler answerer, like drop a bit of glue on this part.

If Martin tells you how too, that the way it isBig Smile, And while you are at it, why not change electrolytic caps and bring the adjustments up to date.

I like it when people talk double Dutch.

Don't forget your talking to a complete novice.

Any pics showing how to, and what your talking about?

Dear Keith

Your BM 1700 is, as all vintage B&O, worth saving, but if you dont understand Martins explanation, I assume that you dont know to much about electronics.

To start repairing or adjusting your 1700, you must be able to solder, you must have at least some knowledge about electronics and you must have the at least a DMM (Digital MultiMeter) and know how to use it. If this is the first time you have to repair an electronic devise the 1700 is not the place to start, you can do more harm than good, not to speak of the dangers involved with working on live electrical circuits, in the worst case you kill yourself or burn down your houseSad.

There are manuals onsite, but these are made for educated technicians, so if you never have, or dont know how to, read an electric diagram these manuals wont help.

But dont give up, we like to help. Tell us where you are situated, then maybe we have members near you, or we can recommend a repair facility near you, where you can get your 1700 repaired and working again.

Now, dont kill the messenger, Saludos Søren

Hi,

I think it would be best to let someone look at it, it is beyond me.

I live in the UK at  Shrewsbury Shropshire.

If someone can help or repair It that would be great.

I've had this system for forty years and I don't wont mess it upSmile

It's welcome here but the postage back and forth is a bit steep and I'm sure
that someone geographically nearer will show up.

I hope some one will turn up.

And I thank you both for all your help so far, and all yet to come.

Hi Keith,

I saw that you are looking for someone who might be able to fix your Beomaster. One of my beocenters went wrong big time and it was really messed up.  I took into my local repair shop and he got it going again  (works and sounds great) He has been looking after all of my B and O equipment for years and really no's his stuff I thought i  would give his details to you as he may be able to help you if you still need someone that is. The shop is based in Aldershot in Hampshire and its called Beaver TV & Video telephone number is 01252 310162 or failing that Im sure that b & o shops can send things off to be repaired as i did phone my local store in Reading a few years ago when it went wrong and they said they can ship it off to the factory and see if they can sort it.

Hope that helps :)

Lewis
