Hi altogether,
I'm quite a newbie to the world of Bang und Olufsen. I started with an Avant RF 32 VCR, added a DVD 2 and a pair of Beolab Pentas III. Also, I do own two Beolink 7000s (love it). However, I ran across an 18 year old Beosystem AV 9000 comprising the Beovision AV 9000, the MPAV 9000 with stand, the Beolab 6000s and the Beolink 5000 in as new condition sold by the original owner. It wasn't advertised properly, so I got it for 300 Euros. Now I'm wondering what to do with the equipment. Switch my Avant to the AV 9000? Will it be possible to connect the DVD 2 to the AV 9000 (playing DVDs would be enough for the moment)? Or resell the whole system and go for a Beosystem 7000 to add to my already existing Avant. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally satisfied with my setup right now but simply had to purchase the Beosystem 9000 (missing only the Beolab 8000s) for that price. Now I'm wondering what is the best way to do with it. Any thoughts on that?
Best regards,
Kai
Keep the BL6000 and get rid of/sell the rest. If the BL6000 are in good condition it was a good deal
Stick with your Avant, DVD2 and the Penta's - use the 6000 as rearspeakers, and look for a 7000-Master/CD and a BeoLink-converterbox.
The Avant is a better tv than the 9000 - and the panel can only be used with the 9000-tv.
That is my advice.
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV

Wrong advise! Exchange the whole 9000 system with my 7000 system

One step after the other. I ran across a pair of Beolab Penta IIIs round the corner and had to buy. Totally satisfied so far with that decision. My ideal setup would be to have Beolab 5000s as rears (hard to find) and a complete Beosystem 7000. However, during my search I incidentally ran across that Beosystem 9000 which I had to buy for that price. Is the Avant undoubtedly the better TV? What classifies it as such? Ok, it's 16:9, has a Dolby Digital Module and this nice scaling technique. Futhernore, it's working well with my DVD 2. However, the design of the AV9000 is cool too and the 2-way-communication also has its own charme. Any further thoughts on this?
Thanks very much to all who have replied so far. I'll gratefully get back to you Leslie as soon as things have progressed and financials allow me to.
Cheers,
Hi Kai, I would keep the AV9000, beautiful design in combination with the Masterpanel and as said by yourself the 2-way coms!
Thanks Leslie. The Avant is beautiful, too. Especially the condition of my Avant is superb. I'll make the decision as soon as I have the AV9000 here. What's better as rears - the Beolab 5000s or the Beolab 6000s? In the end, it all depends on the furniture as well as available space in my room. However, what would you say in general? I still have some time left thinking about it.
Best,
Beolab 5000 definetely!
I was afraid you were saying that.
