Hey everyone, my first post here!

I recently bought a pair of CX50s which had already been restored, but I noticed one of the foam rings wasn't glued firmly enough and started to become loose after I hooked them up and played some music.

I'm wondering if I should just brush a little glue and fix it, or should I replace the whole ring? I do have a couple of new rings, some glue, and glue remover from speakerrepairshop.nl, I was planning on using it for another pair if CX50s I have, but I can always order more of them.

BTW does anyone have experience with the rubber rings speakerrepairshop.nl has for CX50?

All the best,
Sveinn

I take what some might call a really cavalier attitude with my speakers: I would just push on the foam hump a few times with my finger.  If it breaks thru (or takes a really long time to un-deform), then you were going to have to replace it soon anyway.  (Do both speakers regardless of any difference in condition.)  If the rest of the previous repair's workmanship looks OK, just brush some glue in there and hold it until it sets.  If it looks sloppy or there are other screw-ups -- for example when you push the ring pulls away even further around the circle, because it wasn't the right kind of glue in the first place -- then take it all apart, don't trust anything they did.  There are some posts here that might help (or merely interest) you, for example the one below:

The rest looks good, I'm going to glue it back and see if it holds up.

Thanks for the suggestions trackbeo!

We used these a bunch when upcycling the CX-series for testing with BeoCreate 4-Channel Amplifier and measurements, and they seem to be holding just fine.
