I got a Beolink 1000 and need to soldier the contacts on the bottom side but dont want to risk melting the plastic on the remote are these removable on the lower portion of the remote? Thanks
Yes they are. Unscrew all the screws on the back of the remote and everything comes apart.
You can then unsolder the wires to the battery holder and take all that apart.
I have fixed many of these, dropping the entire battery carrier into vinegar to remove battery corrosion.
Then fix as needed and re-assemble. Good time to generally clean the entire remote as well.
TheTinman:dropping the entire battery carrier into vinegar to remove battery corrosion.
Good to know !
Thanks for the tip
I am at the point you said however the lower contacts seem to be still stuck in the frame id a lot rather remove them so i don't melt the plastic frame when i re soldier the wire to the contacts thanks for the vinegar idea
I tried the vinegar it worked tremendously how ever i don't know why but the wires wont soldier to the circuit board am i doing something wrong on this? i would think this would be easy task i am using 60\40 soldier rosin core like i say it wont even stick to the board what temperature is the iron set at? the reason i'm soldiering at the board is both the wires broke at the board also not just the terminals Thanks
Can you soldier to the circuit board? i have not been able to my wires broke to that portion i hope i'm not screwed here
Don't know what to tell you. A good iron and EXTRA FLUX in addition to just your solder is important.
The flux helps remove the corrosion of the old solder and allows you to flow fresh solder to the contacts.
I have fixed many remotes. You just need the right tools. If not, you can ruin the remote.
is there a good flux to buy other than the flux inside the solder? and what you suggest for solder %?
