My BL9s were store demos, so close to 2nd hand. They are stunning, and being all analog don't suffer from any software issues or other nonsense. I'm happy with mine, very happy. I have a huge living room and they fill it with sound with ease.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

So sayeth the Speaker Nazi!
Not much to add to what Jeff has already said, I bought my BL9 second hand and have zero issues with them. Myself I bought them over BL20s because I personally don't like how the BL20s look.
Provided they were not abused, their all analogue design, there's not much to fail.
Highly recommended!
Same here, I think the BL9 looks much better than the BL20. I find the chrome on the 20 kind of gaudy compared to the matt finish on the 9.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Chris Townsend:I wish I’d never sold mine. Pound for pound the best Beolab personally. £2-2750 seems the going price.
I agree, such a smooth mid and open treble, they just disappear. I think personally the only main advantage of the BL5 is in deep bass.
I bought my first pair new, I have added a second pair in the living as midspeakers and Beolab 3 at the back. You can't go wrong, they are really very good. I do miss a bit of base so thinking of upgrading to BL 5's. Before the second pair I had a Beolab 2 added. I also do not like the looks of the lab's 20, to sharp and bling.
I did blow up a tweeter once, on the second hand pair, but it is not that expensive to replace. I think I had some issues with Apple TV.
The answer to your question is very simple.
YES!
I bought mine several months ago and haven't stopped smiling since. Having done a bit of digging into their reliability, I also purchased a spare pair of tweeters, just in case.
There' a pair for sale on eBay at the moment for £2,250, which is what I paid for mine.
If you have an unusual pair of ears that tell your brain you don't like them, just sell them on for the same price.
Cheers
Nigel
