Hello,

I was playing a record when suddenly the arm would no longer move left.  The arm will return to the off position, but will not move left.  I hear the motor moving when trying to move it left, but it does not move.

I suspect the belt is broken, which I'm hoping will be an easy fix.  I can't seem to find any instructions on how to replace it, or even how to remove the platter or open the record player.  Can someone point me in the right direction?

Try looking here https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/27999.aspx

Typically the little tap is broken on the tonearm sledge. You can check by removing the platter and manually move the tonearm into the centre.

Thanks.  I removed the platter and found the tiny belt is broken.

It looks like a thin black rubber band - I'm assuming this will cover it:

Can't find the arm belt alone.  Hopefully I will be able to replace it easily.

If you don't care if it works or not  - go and buy the cheap chinese toy belts off Ebay. If you are lucky they won't cause permanent damage to motor bearings etc.
If you want the real thing - go here: https://beoparts.com/2016/10/09/beogram-tangential-tracking-servomotor-belt/
(Platter belt also available - use the contact form).

Sorry, but I have just seen to many worn down sinter-bronze bearings in those poor motors and heard to many complaints about
audible motor rumble from square and round tracking belts...

Hi,

I have a Beogram 5500, and I just encountered the same problem, all of a sudden the arm wouldn't advance. I opened it up and the same little black band is broken. Did you manage to fix yours? Any tips? Thanks,

Alex

Alex,

I bought the belt from Dillen that he recommended.  I was able to put it on myself pretty easily, and it worked like a charm.

Best,

Mike

Ok great, I just contacted them and put in an order, sounds like something I can figure out how to put in. Thanks Mike.
