Hello all!

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge with this. I have recently acquired a BV4-65 and a Beosystem 3. Each from separate sellers. I am ready to connect them up together however I have some questions. I have attached pictures to help. In the first IR connection on the back of the BV4 there is a plug that looks like the cable has broken out of. The camera socket appears to be completely empty however there is a plug/cable that looks like it would fit the socket if there was a connector in there. There are only 2 cables coming out of the bottom of the TV. The one that goes into the 2nd IR socket and the one left unplugged that looks like it would to the camera socket. Am I missing a cable that should be going to the first IR socket? Am I missing the connector in the camera socket? Which socket on the BS3 should be connected to the serial socket on the BV4? Is there anything else I would need to get them working together? I have tested the TV by turning it on with a Panasonic remote and connecting a Roku to the DVI connection and it works great.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

-Tucker

I’ve no experience with the bv4-65, but for the rest;

serial on the monitor connects to the serial on the BS3. Note that it is a straight through cable but pins 7 and 8 are joined (the middle two on the lower 4 pins on the plug.

the IR cable should connect to the IR plugs on both devices, you will need a DVI to HDMI cable for the picture. If you need the pin out for the IR, it is available on the BS3 installation manual.

putting those together, you should at least get a picture with remote control of the BS3 - the camera is used for calibration, so isn’t urgent. And I don’t know about that connector!

Thanks so much Frog! Do you know what the correct cable would be called to connect the BS3 IR socket to the BV4 IR socket? Serial type cable to the 8-pin rectangular connector? Sorry I don’t know the technical terms. Haha.

Sorry, that’s a wierd one. I haven’t had a BV4-65, so don’t have any knowledge of it.

Probably best to get that (and the serial cable) from AVS Services who can get the genuine B&O part.

It seems somebody pulled out the cables of the 4-65 without knowing that there is a little clip on each connector that needs to be pushed down in order to remove the cable.

Result: the left hand socket is ripped out and missing (most probably still stuck on the cable) in case you have that cable you can try to solder the socket back into place.

The socket in the middle looks also strange seems there is a part of the plug stuck?

Hey there,

The left cable socket labeled Camera has the cable intact attached to the back of the TV, when looking in the socket there is no sign of damage, almost as if the female part of the socket was never installed.  The middle plug had the remains of the original plug still in the socket (as pictured), but I was able to remove the plug and the socket looks fine.

I think I have determined that I either need a cable that has a RS232 connector on the end that would plug into the IR-IN connection on the BS3 and a 8-pin Molex style connector on the end that connects to the BV4, or an external IR Eye puck that has a RS232 connector for the BS3.

Does that sound right?

Don't know if it's relevant but my BV4-50 connects to my BS3 via DVI-for picture and RS232 for controls. My IR-eye is connected to BS3 through another RS232-port.

Hope it makes sense? Smile

Yes, This is my 2nd option.  Since the BV4 has a built in IR receiver I would like to find the correct cable, but if I can't, I will be looking for the IR eye with the RS232 connector like you have.

Hi.

Time has passed trought this post. Finally what have you done with the connections? When you said you use an IR eye with the RS232 i suposse this IS to use a remote control. Any idea how yo use a firestick or Chrome Cast or any TV box  with the beo 4-65?
