Hi all,

I wonder if you can assist me with the mysteries of the OPTION settings.

I recently changed my beloved Beovision 3-32 with a BV 7-40 Mk IV (without Bluray) and suddenly I found myself messing up the OPT settings for the rest of my gear:

I have a Beocenter 2300 and Beogram 3300 connected to the TV via Masterlink ( I set A.OPT to 0 and I can now control CD, Radio and get the sound from the Beogram (but can't change track etc. like I used to)
The Beogram is assigned to the button A.MEM which translates to PHONO on the Beocenter display and on the side-display of the 7-40 it says N-RADIO ( which I assume is correct)

I also have a DVD 2, that is now connected via HDMI only ( I tried scart also with same result) I get the picture of the DVD if I start it by putting on a DVD, but cannot control anything or even start the DVD 2 with the BEO 4.
I have assigned DVD2 to the button DVD. I have currently V.OPT set to 2 ( but I have tried almost all of them without luck)

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter.

As far as the issues with the DVD2 goes, if I remember correctly you have to connect to the TV with the scart cable too as the cable carries the signals to control the DVD player.

Main room products in ML are set to 1,2 or 0 (no IR) and link rooms are set to 5 (same as 1) or 6 (same as 2).

If you have a product in the same room it should be in opt 4.

Thanks Guys!

@Stoobietoo; I was naive to think i could have just a HDMI cable attached.. I followed your advice and now I have both HDMI and SCART... and it works like a charm..even though I hate the cable clutter..

@w5bno123:  so, if I understand you correctly, I should keep A.OPT as 0 and then set V.OPT as 4 ( to be able to control also the Beogram, am I correct?

Thanks

Peter

Hi Peter

The TV should be in V.OPT 2 and the Audio in A.OPT 0 assuming the audio system doesn’t have its own speakers connected?!

Disconnect the ML cables. Then reset the option programming to 1 on both products respectively and power them off. Power each back on and option set then with the correct numbers. Power off the items then plug in the ML cable and when you power it back up they should handshake and see each other again.

Not naive Peter Whistle almost all other DVD players have a built in IR eye, the DVD 2 doesn't.  But at least it is working.

Good luck with setting the options too.
