Hi guys,

I recently bought a Beosound Core. I have it connected to a Bose Lifestyle 650. Optical to optical connection. I also have a Besound Moment, a Besound 2, 3 x Beoplay A6's, 2 x Beoplay M5's, and 2 x Beoplay M3's. I connect everything up using the multi-room function on the app.

The issue I am having is that no matter what I try, I cannot get my Beosound Core to play in sync with the other speakers. I have tried everything I can think of and used the Sound Snc setting in the main settings. No matter what I try to set it does no good, the sound is still out of sync.

It is also out of sync if I use google chromecast or apple airplay to play my music.

It may be worth adding that i also have it wired to my router not wireless too.

Could someone please help please. This is driving me crazy.

Thank you in advance,

David

What are your sync settings ?

HI

For wired setting its 50 and for the wireless setting its 1000. Ive tried everything from 30 to 5000 on the wired setting as that is the only one that makes changes (im guessing because its wired to my router). However none of the changes make it sync to the other speakers.

Thanks for answering.

David,

I only can help with Chromecast and syncing shouldn't be an issue ...?

https://support.google.com/chromecastbuiltin/answer/6318642?hl=en

It never happened to me that syncing didn't work, BS2 and A6  also playing in sync perfectly with 4 speakers of another brand - but with Chromecast.

Is there no way for adjusting your speakers or are adjustments not working?

Hi Ulrike,

I could probably get the syncing issue sorted with using Chromecast as they have a group delay setting. The only problem is I have a Beosound Moment which doesnt' have Chromecast. It is the central hub of my music, which is why I chose to get the Core for my Bose system. Thinking it would allow me to play my music through all my speakers and in sync. This is what I am trying to resolve currently.

I hope you are well.

David

David - I don’t have a Core (I plan to), so I’m interested in your experience as I also have a Moment, A6 and M5 playing multiroom perfectly.

What i don’t fully get in your setup is the Sonos role. Shall I understand that Sonos is the speaker for the Core through SPDIF out as well as the source through SPDIF in?

The Core I have set up is an optical (TOSlink) to optical (TOSlink) link. One end goes from the Core and the other goes in to the Bose Lifestyle. Essentially turning the Bose speaker in to a B&O speaker. In theory that was the idea I had when I bought this device. The problem I am having is that I cannot sync the Core with the other B&O speakers. Its just a few milliseconds out, but its noticeable and none of the settings seem to help.I think I have tried literally everything there is in the list of settings. Its why I am hoping someone on here can help.

The Core would be a great piece of equipment if I could get it working right.

Take care,

David

Sorry for my Bose / Sonos confusion....

So it seems the delay is introduced at the Core optical output or Bose optical input.

Don’t you have any speakers attached to your Moment?

My feeling is that when you leverage B&O speakers, delays are properly managed to cope with wire and wireless speakers which may not be the case with third party sound systems, specially if they themselves introduce sound processing delay.

Is there any “line-in” type delay parameter on your Bose?

Hey,

Sadly the only options I get when using the optical input for the Bose Lifestyle are very limited. I don't get to change the delay. Would an optical in to my Lifestyle and a 3.5mm in to the Core work? I did try that but for some reason I got no sound, but maybe I was doing something wrong there?

Thanks for the help and troubleshooting ideas.

The issue you have is similar I think to this one: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/30368.aspx?PageIndex=1

Hey,

Thanks for the link. If it is similar there is no cure yet, so its not very reassuring. Im going to try Toslink to HDMI link tomorrow and see if that helps any.

Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate it.

I suspect the BeoSound Core is synchronized properly but as it is a source to the Bose system, the Bose processing is introducing the delay.

Hi David,

I think Ross is right, it is the Bose Lifestyle system  audio processing that is causing the delay, but I may have a solution.

I don't have a Lifestyle 650 system but an older Lifestyle 135 which I use independently, and I gather uses similar sound processing techniques as the Lifestyle 650 so I conducted some tests this afternoon.

I also experienced a delay when I connected the optical output of my Beosound Core to the optical input of the Lifestyle, even though when I connected a pair of  powerlink speakers to the Core, the sound from the speakers was in sync.

I then tried removing the speakers and connecting the powerlink output of the Core to one of the analogue phono inputs on the Lifestyle, selecting this as the input in the Lifestyle system settings, and all my rooms (which are mainly Essence Mk 2's and a Beosound Moment) and the Lifestyle played in sync.

The sound settings in the Core configuration menu enable the powerlink output to be used for an audio system, which I ticked so the volume of the Lifestyle system was controlled by the Bose remote.

I constructed a temporary Powerlink to phono lead from a few spare cables I had,  but I am sure that Steve from Sounds Heavenly will be able to help with a bespoke cable.

I hope this helps,

Super Best,

Paul

Hey Paul,

Thank you so much for your reply and potential solution. I have ordered a powerlink to phono now in the hope that this works. I don't see any reason it wont, given it does seem to be the Bose that is causing the delay. Ill let you know how it goes when it arrives.

Thanks again buddy.

Take care,

David

Hey Paul,

Your solution to attach a Phono lead worked. There were a few teething issues, but we have finally got there and now all my music is playing in sync.

I did assume the problem lay with the Bose, but with limited options and a not very helpful community, here was my only option for help. I was also impressed with the Sounds Heavenly customer service. I ordered yesterday and received the phono lead this morning.

Thanks for all your help guys. It really has been appreciated.

Take care,

David

Hi David,

Many thanks for your kind words and for your order, I'm, pleased to hear that the cable arrived so quickly!  Thanks also to Paul for recommending my store - you saw David's question before I did!

Glad that all is now working well, please ask if you need any further help.

Kind regards, Steve.
