Hi all,
I won some BeoVox S45s on eBay recently and unfortunately they arrived broken. Both speakers make a rattling noise when picked up, and only the tweeter on each of them seems to make any noise.
The seller was kind enough to refund the cost of the speakers and asked me to dispose of them, but I'd ideally like to get them fixed up with the plan of then taking them into a charity shop so they can go to good use (or at least someone deserving can make some money from them instead of binning them).
I opened one of them up this morning and saw that the rattling appears to be from the coils and magnets coming unglued during transit (see photo at the bottom of this post). All of the cables appear to be fine and unbroken, and I've taken the wood they're mounted on out (well, moved it as much as I could without breaking any wires) and the solders look fine on the bottom.
I've glued the coils back into place with hot glue (looks like that's what B&O used initially) on the off chance that may have fixed it but no luck. I'm not a sound engineer so I've no idea what to do next. Does anybody have any ideas/tips/things I should look at?
Using a Marantz M-CR611 to drive them which should be plenty powerful (has been able to drive some floor standing B&W speakers + some BeoVox C75 and CX100 that are all rated as higher watt (same Ω) than these S45s so that shouldn't be the problem.
Not entirely fussed if I can't get them working since they've been refunded, but it would be nice.
Thanks!
Looks like magnet on the driver is misaligned on one of them which looks like it might be a pain to fix.
Planning on taking them to the tip tomorrow morning to reclaim the room they're taking up unless anybody thinks they sound good enough fully working to make them worth repairing?
I can repair those if you post them to me.....

Oh cool thanks! How much do you think it would cost?
Whatever the postage costs, tube of epoxy glue.....oh and a couple of bottles of New Zealand Sauvignon blanc ought to do it!
See this post if you want to know how its done........https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/29423.aspx
