When recapping 70's Beomasters, is it recommended to replace the trimmer potentiometers at the same time?
Depends on the type originally fitted, but in most cases yes.

OK, are there recommended types for this, or should ordinary open carbon trimmers (like in original) be used?
I have been using Piher and Bourns, closed types,

I agree, Pihers (cermet or carbon) are okay and cheap. There are better alternatives, but they are usually unnecessarily expensive.
I have always wondered why B&O didn't use encapsulated trimmers in the first place!
Replace them anyway, but if you can avoid touching the tuner ones, leave them well alone.

Here for type
You can use the open carbon type like the original, that'll be fine. However, the slightly better closed types are not much more expensive so consider those unlessyou have the open type already in the drawer.
BTW, not all closed types are better. B&O actually used some closed types, particularly in the TV rangeand I'm sure that many repairers will agree that those shiny/orange ones used in the LX25/28 series vertical circuitare components from hell. I don't do a lot of TVs but I've still repalced a lot of them.At least with the open types you can visually tell when they are falling apart.
OK, I looked up the Piher closed cermet trimmers. These are available with 5 x 10 mm pinout at very decent prices. That looks to me like the best choice. In the drawer I only have cermets with 5 x 2.5 mm pinout, so I'll have to order these.

You can also order by Martin, also closed and good ones, and while you are at it why not the caps too. easier and fast delivery, just not to Mexico
