Hi - I bought a BM4400 on ebay that needs a new power switch fitting - the switch is with the receiver and the parts to fit it.
I looked at the service manual and this doesn't really show how it is fitted or what bits go where
Does anyone have a picture or advice on changing the switch - the old one has been removed so I have nothing to go on. The receiver appears to work fine and sounds great through the Tape input which is stuck down.
found a couple of pics

Brilliant, thanks Soren - I think mine is the later one because of the serial number and the switch that was supplied - do you know if they differ greatly - looks similar except mine has plastic and what would be the best way to get to it?

Hmm, not a job for the feint hearted - will have a look at the weekend
I spotted this on ebay a week or so ago and the seller stated something along the lines of "power switch has failed, new one included in the sale but I dont have the time to do the work myself, should be an easy fix" and having looked into this exercise myself quite recently thought yeah righto! replacing the power switch is a task of biblical proportions as can be seen from sorens pictures........good luck my friend

Yeah - I thought it should be easy but didn't do my research - on the other hand the condition is very good and worth restoring - I am wondering if anyone knows of someone in the East of England/Essex that could undertake this and also do a recap etc as it matches the rest of my system perfectly and sounds great, but it would be nice to have it fully working as it should be.
And you couldnt be criticised for thinking that, "replace the on/off switch" how hard can it be? and it's probably not..........but getting at it to replace it is the thing, then putting it all back together without ending up with a handfull of nuts and bolts left over ;¬).
I've found someone who can hopefully bring it all back to working order and life - will be worth it though as I have wanted one of these for so long and will have the knowledge that it is all ok inside. Will post pictures once it is repaired. Alongside the BG4002 and BV M100-2 with a playmaker for digital music.
Incidentally I thought my valve amp was the best I'd heard, until this came along!
