Roastie called round the other day bearing gifts........seems this little scoundrel has decided to misbehave, "standby lamp comes on.....but nothing else is working"..........will take a look inside, I'm suspecting a broken single strand wire.

Opened her up for a look and sure enough the standby lamp comes on, when standby button is pressed the relay engages with a click but nothing happens....however during my poking around the whole thing burst into life.

All function lamps illuminate on request and all looks well......switching to standby and everything goes off, pressing standby again powers everything back up.......but this isnt happening all the time.....looks like I have a intermittent fault somewhere.

Poking around the damaged relay (the cover has been broken in a past life) and in particular the tie wrap holding the cover in place interrupted the supply and everything went dead again......this looked suspect when last I had this apart. Removed the relay and the cover fell apart.

Replacing the relay without its damaged cover has resulted in the unit powering up and down every time........a test period is required but I'm optimistic that I have the culprit.....now if anyone has such a relay I would appreciate hearing from them?

Well.....reassembled everything, the relay now has better air circulation around it's coil and contacts due to the absence of a cover......not ideal I know but doesn't impact on functionality....dust may be a problem if its left for any length of time. So Dave next time your up here call in and collect it, I will give it a bit longer on test then store it away for you ;~)

Hi Craig .

I have send a message to the guy who send me the tuning wheel for you, maybe he has the relay you are searching for. I let you know as soon as I hear from him.

Kind regards.

Stellar job as always Craig - New Zealand will run dry at this rate 😄 🍷

I have a second 6000 in bits with an intact (I think) relay cover, but have a hankering to get that one back to life again one day so ideally not cannibalise it.

If Henrik’s contact can find one then let me know and I’ll sort you out.

I’ll drop you a line next time we’re up 👍🏻
