I've never come across this problem with the Beocenter 2500 and derivatives,but it's quite common with any of the active speakers,due to noisy amplifier chips etc therein.
The signal path is common to both powerlink and headphones outlets,in fact the powerlink signal is extracted before the headphone amplifier.
It's possible that the powerlink socket is dry jointed or oxidised.Try resoldering the connections,and 'praps a LITTLE contact cleaner inside the socket too?
The 'speakers can also both be connected via one powerlink socket,by "daisy chain" connecting them in series.Try this to see if it makes any difference?
