Hi all,
Been a long while!
I have got a mk6 7-40 and recently purchased a 7-55 mk1. Now I didnt comprehend how much larger the 55 is! for this reason i'm unsure whether to keep the 55! knowing I am unsure about keeping it, what are your thoughts? Is the 40 mk6 a better set than the 55? moving from a beolab 7.4 to a 7.6 aswell
i will also need to update the STB for the apple software.
has anyone made the jump to this set?
Many thanks
nick

A BV7-40 MK6 is probably a slightly better set than a BV7-55 MK1, but a BV7-55 MK2 would be the best set overall if you could get one. I ended up with the BV7-55 MK2, but I wish I had bought a BV 7-40 MK6 for my bedroom when I had the chance. They're both fantastic televisions.
BeoLab 5, BeoVision 7-55 MK2, BeoSound 5 Encore, BeoSound 9000, BeoLab Penta III, BeoLab 8000, BeoLab 6000, BeoLab 2, BeoLab 7-6, BeoSound 8, BeoTime (analog clock), Beo 4 remote.

Thanks for the reply. its a tough decision!

Hungedu is correct that the 7-40 Mk6 is a better tv than the 7-55 Mk1. Main differences between the 2 sets are 3D capability and full array backlight dimming vs edge lighting. The 7-55 Mk 2 would be a much better exchange and offer you picture quality better than many modern day sets, possibly including some OLED panels depending on contrast and brightness settings you like. Neither are 4K or HDR but then much televised content is still only 1080i/720p anyway, which current TV sets would upscale to 4K - which is only actually 2K! Netflix, Apple TV 4K and Amazon Prime offer better content but very little will be native 4K with true HDR capabilities that many sets can't display anyway. When movies are edited in Hollywood they are done in 2K only as 4K takes too long and is too expensive to upgrade the equipment to, so bottom line is don't get caught up in all the hype and a good HD set like the Mk2 7-55 (with backlight dimming zones) will be perfect for you across the range of most televised content! All the best, Simon.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.

Beovision 7-55 MK1 red, Beolab 10 red. Beolab 50, all black. Beolab 17 broken ice. Beolab transmitter. Apple tv4 and apple express 2.
Hi Esax, I think the article is referring to the later Mk 2 model as I owned the Mk 1 and it was not 3D capable and did not have local dimming zones, certainly not 512 zones that the later revised Mk 2 did. Either way, hopefully the OP will do their research before buying. Perhaps a dealer can verify some facts about the 2 variants. Cheers, Simon.
Hi guys,
I have owned both the 7-55 mark I and 7-55 mark II. I know for sure that both have local dimming zones with scanning backlight. The difference between the two screens is that mark I have 96 dimming zones and mark II 512 dimming zones. Mark II is also compatible with 3D-bluray and the inbuilt blurayplayer is much faster and better in mark II than in mark I. Beosystem 3 that is the video-engine in both models is an updated version in the mark II than in mark I.
Picture Quality is MUCH MUCH better in the mark II vs mark I. I can say that Mark II is probobly the BEST televison set B&O has made (including the BV 12-65). I have today the Eclipse 65-inch and I can say that my old BV 7-55 mark II is just as good as this new OLED-screen regarding picture-quality.
NEW! Beoremote HALO, 3xBeoplay Charging pad, Beoplay M5

Which is as useful as a handbrake on a canoe these days. Who cares!
The motion handling on a 7-40 Mk6 is sublime. You won't find better. However - it's a 40" panel.
7-55 Mk1? It's BIG !!! It's no slouch on motion handling or image quality - and it's 55". Is it as good as the 40 Mk6? - No, but it's a bigger screen.
It's like comparing a BMW 550i and a BMW 730i. One is smaller and smashes it, one is bigger and does a great job.

BeoVision 7-40" Mk6 3D is the same Picture panel as in BeoVision 10-40" first version.
7-55 MkII is B & O's flagship.
If you want something for your money in 2018 - BeoSystem 3 EU Third Generation / BV 7-55 Mk II TV, with direct projector connection.
Thanks for the info Lee, i think i get you? The 7-40 is a better set in terms of picture quality but trends want bigger sets, for me this means that the 7-55 is a close 2nd in picture but far better in size. Sound wise moving from a 7.4 to a 7.6 would i hear any difference? Did you find that the 55's were harder to sell due to size?
thanks Nick
BeoLab 7- 4 is created as the center speaker for BeoLab 5.
