Please can anybody tell me where the C32 capacitor ( i think it is called) is, on the Beogram CD 50 player. I have been told it is a common problem on this unit.

Also the C32 capacitor, must be replaced with the exact one that is to be taken out. Higher capacitance of the cap, could burn out the laser, or do damage to the board. I have been told a Philips replacement, will do the job fine, only if it is the same capacitance, as the one that is being removed. Otherwise it may not play any compact disc at all. Can anybody tell me where i can get this capacitor from, with the exact value. Thanks.

Beomaster 5500

At present i have the stack system above model, linked to B & O Penta's. I had hissing from one speaker, so i dismantled the speaker amp, found a couple of dry joints. Re soldered put back together, still got hissing, so i have discovered the speaker sockets (the top two) in the Beomaster 5500 are worn, and they are a pig to put in anyway, all four speaker sockets.

Can anybody tell me where to get speaker sockets for this model. I have not tried a B & O dealer but i can imagine they will not be cheap.

Cheers for the help,

Thanks Mark.

Welcome to Beoworld.

Worn speaker sockets usually won't cause hissing. They cause silence and/or intermittent dropouts.
It's far more likely that a bunch of small capacitors in the power supply area has dried out.
That can easily cause various forms of disturbance to the preamplifier circuits, which in turn will be amplified.

I have repaired hundreds of Beogram CD50 players and never ran into C32, where did you get this information ?
To me, it sounds like a strange combination of the usual culprit in the Beogram CD5500-upwards players where
indeed a certain capacitor needs to be of an exact type, but that's C2103. Could this be cause for confusion ?
Anyway, typical faults for CD50 are lack of spindle motor, tray loading and laser block mechanics lubrication,
distortion because of a faulty muting circuit and, last but not least, owners putting the CD in the tray label side up
as they would normally do in any other player.
If you tell us a little more about the symptoms, maybe we can advice you further or guide you to a repairer near to you.
