Hi folks,

New B&O user here, just got a pair of H5 earphones to replace my Airpods. I just couldn't get the Airpods to seal properly in my ears so they always felt like they were about to fall out, and I didn't get the full sound from them unless I was pushing them into my ear, as soon as I let go they unsealed again.

I found the medium Comply earbuds to give me a perfect fit and seal with the H5's, and I love the sound.

My only niggles with the H5 are:

  • Cable noise, I'm still playing with the cable and how to wear it best, it is quite annoying. Maybe a smooth sleeve over the braided cord would improve it by reducing the friction against clothes.
  • Switching between paired devices.

I only use my H5's with an iPhone and an iPad during my commute. Both devices paired perfectly first time, however I'm not sure if I'm switching between them properly. When I try to change from my iPhone to my iPad, I first try tapping the H5s in the iPad's bluetooth list but it always fails to connect even though they are already paired. I find that I have to long-press the middle button on the H5's, and THEN tap on the H5's in the iPad's bluetooth list. And the same when I switch back to my iPhone. Is this normal? Is there a faster way to switch between already-paired devices?

The iPhone BeoPlay app is showing I have firmware 5.0.7 on my H5's, I have never seen any updates available, is this the latest?

I really want to like these more, nearly went for the E8's because of the anticipated cable-noise but the E8's seem to be plagued with drop-out issues.

Any tips appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

i love my H5s, also use the comply spherical buds - just bought a new set of 3 as they are very comfortable.  I have the same software version as you and it seems to be the last version.

i mostly use them with my iPhone, but when on a flight, I use them with my ipad. With both devices in close proximity, the H5s connect by default to the iPhone, so I have to switch the Bluetooth on the iPhone off, then go into the iPad and pair there. Once I get off the plane, I switch the ipad’s Bluetooth off - just to make sure the next time I pair, it will be with the iPhone.

it is more painful than using the AirPods, I know, but I really like the headphones - and I never get the cable noise that is often mentioned... don’t know why.

i just hope the battery lasts a long time, as I’ll be sad when they degrade too much to be able to use.

Don’t understand the question. Can you elaborate?

Beoplay app enables setting the tone on the H5 (see picture).

When you power off the device (joining the earphones) and back on the settings are back to default i.e white spot in central position.

I had that problem with mine when I had a pair! Always thought it was just me doing something wrong.

I hate the cable rub noise on my shirt collar - so i dont use them anymore

I did buy the fins though and they gave a better fit especially if i went for a run

I have no issues with the AirPods - they dont fall out if i go for a run
