Just like the A8 the A6 lasted for under 3 years..
Does anyone know why they stopped production ??
Was it not selling well??
I am used to b&o products having a ten year life span..
Are they replacing it with something else??
The A8 was supposedly one of b&o's best sellers but it lasted for maybe only three years as well..
The A8 was Bang & Olufsen's first foray in to the lower priced echelons which started life as a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 8 and became a "best seller"
It was hampered by the 30 pin dock connector and the technology was changing quickly with streaming coming in to more main stream, so naturally it only had a limited life. Albeit changing along the way as the A8 and then with the changing dock connector.
I think therefore it was a bit longer than 3 years.
I am shocked to see the end of the A6 , not only cos i have one, because it's a great sounding stereo system. I looked on the BeoPlay site and it's gone.
Maybe they are beginning to get rid of the multiroom products from BeoPlay and bringing them back in to the Bang & Olufsen fold. Perhaps signaling that BeoPlay is just headphones and local BT audio.
Or there is going to be something else along the way.
The A9 and A6 are both great and it would be nice to see them on the market for much longer.
Maybe the homepod has shaken things up and they are looking to release something voice controlled.

It's still on the site? https://www.beoplay.com/en/products/beoplaya6
I don't think they are bringing speakers back in to B&O as they've only *just* put the BeoSound 1 and 2 on the BeoPlay website, implying the move is the other way around!
Like I said in another thread, I can see B&O selling more and more products online and they have a fantastic setup via BeoPlay.com, so it makes more sense to sell from this website. Bang & Olufsen is just a company website and nothing more than a product catalogue. No point moving speakers from a store to a catalogue website where the products can only be bought by (few) dealers. No sense at all.
It's "out of stock" on the regular bang Olufsen site and on the beoplay site it's not even listed anymore
Maybe it is happening because "newer" versions with voice recognition are about to be launched soon, and existing stock are depleted.
I - on the contrary - would think, that it could be wise to have all NL-branded product in the Bang & Olufsen range.
Selling these compact systems online is not a problem - they are relatively easy to set up.
The dealers surely won’t be very happy with that - but it is a good thing for those, who don’t live near a dealer....
....and for the company.
The reason for the EOL (if it is so) of the A6 could be, that there imight be a new version with voice control and ‘other fancy stuff’ coming soon.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

B&O and voice control, what possibly could go wrong ;)
Also pulled from the store display closest to the NA distributor: Abt can't order them anymore, either.

It has just been taken off the B&O site as of today.

Still available on the website at this moment..
Karel.
kuyttendaele: Still available on the website at this moment..
I said the same thing - can be ordered too, so it's also in stock.
It's properly either 2 things. End of life or new version coming soon.
I'm surprised if a voice-activation model is coming so soon. Everything I've read has projected 2019 for the voice-activated products. However, that would be nice if B&O is running ahead of schedule. I for one would hold out until the new voice-activated products arrive.
BTW, the US site now has the M5 as "notify me" for availability.
I am looking at bang-olufsen.com
I click collection.
Then...
I click wireless speakers.
There is no A6 anywhere and the website has been updated as well.
Thanks...
I'm just curious.. was it selling well?
w5bno123:The A6 was discontinued some months ago due to a part becoming unavailable via a third party supplier. There is not a replacement in the pipeline at this moment in time.
