I use my Beo 6 about 5% of the time, and that's only because I don't know how to get my 4 to record on Sky.

A £600 paperweight.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Thanks for the warm welcome Smile

Yes, i'am thinking about getting the beo4 instead and then buy a ipad mini as remote..

But I think there is a problem with my beolab 9, they don't give the bass in movies i hoped for...

Also i thought that the beovision 11 had local dimming.. But the screen is just gray, when it should be black, do any of you know about a way to dim the backlight?

After such a great review I could not hold any longer and just ordered a bv11-55 this afternoon. Black border and blue frets, and motorized stand. I had intended to buy the 11-46 but the sound on the 11-55 blew me away, and watching Prometheus on the larger screen was just really impressive. Arrives in about two weeks so will provide some feedback then. Now I just need to rearrange the furniture and find space for it.

Excellent choice - congratulations !

I am spending my afternoon re-arranging cables et cetera ........ but no BV11 on my horizon: so please enjoy yours and post pictures !!

I currently have a BS9000 with BL8000s and is thinking of getting a BV11 and would like to be able to play CDs from the BS9000 on the BL8000s connected to the BV11. I have read about the new Beolink converter and that it adds a delay so I was wondering if it would be possible to use the SPDIF from the BS9000 to the SPDIF in on the BV11? If yes, how would that work?

On a separate note, do you think the BL8000s would complement the BV11 good enough?

I doubt that the Beolink converter would add a delay. Anyway, for the setup you plan (BL8000 connected to the BV11) a delay would not matter.

The Beolink would only send the signals between BS9000 and the BV11.

I will let you know next weekend ... I used to have 4 BL8000s with my BV5 in the living room, 2 BL8000 on Masterlink in the dining room as the BV5 was only able to drive 4 speakers plus the BL2. Now I will have the 6 BL8000s connected directly to the BV11. I am curious whether I will move all speakers into the living room to fully benefit from 7.1 surround sound or keep the 2 in the dining room ;-)

As probably others I have been contemplating to move to BL9s - but I eventually ended up finding them too ugly - apologies to the owners and the designer - I simply prefer the classic look of the BL8000s.

I think it will look quite ugly with so many speakers in one room. I love the design but multiplying it will only take away from the clean look.

I've got to agree with Michael I'm afraid, I think filling your living room with 6 floor standing speakers plus a sub is going to look a mess. I've got a spare pair waiting to be collected by the seller sitting in the living room and I can't wait to get rid of them.

Plus, what about the nice stereo sound you enjoy in the dining room currently? If you really wanted to exploit the 7.1 processor in the BV11 and make a cinema in your front room, what about something discrete and wall mounted on the side channels?

I tried the Beovision 7-40 with 8000's/6000's and a 2, and it did look cluttered in anything but a voluminous room.

I was in my B&O store today and saw the BV11-55, god damned what a nice piece of art! My bankaccount is happy that I dont have enough space for it...

It is a design statement, I love it. The size difference from my BV10-46 is huge.. :)

My BV10 is new since the summer so I will not replace it yet.

Thanks for the candid feedback everyone ;-)

Well, let's say I find the living room big enough to easily accommodate six BL8000s, a BL2 and a BV11.

In regards to suggestion to use "something discrete and wall mounted": there are no walls to either side of the TV set - it's all glass. Therefore, there's no other option than use floor standing speakers. In fact the biggest challenge when furnishing the flat was that there're so little walls to use. I will post some images once the BV11 is delivered on Saturday!

A question about the Apple TV integration. Does it require a separate HDMI cable in the "box" in the TV? Does it need a separate power cable or does it get power from the TV itself?

My understanding of the Apple TV "integration" is that it has space around the back to hide it!

There's a dedicated space for an Apple TV in the BV10/11 but you still need a (short) HDMI cable to connect it to the Beovision... and a (long) powercable to juice the Apple device...

That's actually a pretty poor "implementation". It requires 3 additional cables to the TV (power, HDMI and RJ45). 3 additional cables to hide...

It would have been great if the ATV would just plug into the TV and use the TVs power, network and HDMI directly

I think it is a good "implentation" (why choose that word?). It does not require RJ45, it is preferred actually to run it wirelessly which in theory gives it more speed since the ethernet port on the Apple TV is only 10/100 mbit - and I think most people want fewer cables to their TVs also.

You do need to put a PUC-cable on it however but that + hdmi + power Is not a big problem. Apple sells superthin HDMI cables and you can buy very short hdmi cables also.

I would say that it is by far the best "integration" with a product by B&O since it actually fits inside the TV without the need for extra parts from STB brackets or whatever. It looks and works well.

I would say: it is the best "integration" one can get - with the PUC-cable attatched.

Apple would not allow any further/better integratiom.

Network Cable:

Surely people want as few cables as possible.

But if you have a BV11 it is highly recommended that you use a cable-solution. (for NetworkLink)

And you could use a good switch to do the cabled connection to the ATV as well.

....and for the Blurayplayer too Cool

The speed is not the problem - a cable-solution is far more stable than a wireless connection.

Besides that, what would a 1 Gbit port add to an ATV? 10/100 mbit is still way overkill to watch a 1080p movie. So speed is irrelevant here. It's always preferred to use the RJ45 port if you can. There is no downside.

The downside is that you would need a cable for every box. I agree that a cable connection is more stable but good access points today work very well.

I have had all my apple tvs connected wireless to my AirPort Extreme routers and never had a problem(at least not in the last years). I run two like that today.

I don't have more than two RJ45 ports in my bedroom for example with one being used for the dvb-c cable. Sure you could use a switch but that is not always easy to hide and many do not have network cables throughout their homes either.

So there is of course a downside. Like believing you have to install Ethernet everywhere, put up switches for more ports and more cables.

The wifi in the Apple TV does excellent work and I don't hesitate to use it:)

But this is not what you said earlier. You said “it is preferred actually to run it wirelessly which in theory gives it more speed since the ethernet port on the Apple TV is only 10/100 mbit”.

Again, speed is irrelevant. Apple TV is a mediaplayer without an internal hdd, so 100 mbit is more than enough.

And you can’t ignore the fact that there is a limited bandwith in the 2,4 GHz range and it will easily get overcrowded. Or that people complaining having drop-out issues using wifi. I’m sure you have no issues at your place, but how does that look if you live in an apartment in a populated area?

I only said you should hardwire if you can. If there is a problem hiding that extra network switch + adapter, wireless could be your alternative. But inside the BV11 there is luckily enough space to do proper cable management. :)

Beautiful setup. Great pics of the cabling as well.

Just saw that FlatpanelsHD posted their review of the BV11:

Havent read it in detail but saw that it gave it a "highly recommended award"

Also seems that input lag is still there, even in game mode...

Just received BV11-55 on Monday and still sitting in itx box until set up Friday afternoon. I could not wait so did connect my bluray player and AppleTV for a little run. KMA gave such an in-depth review that I cannot add much. I watched Prometheus last night and it was incredible. The large screen gives a great cinematic effect, and the sound is superb with no need for additional speakers, at this point in any case. The out of the box (or in my case still int he box) movie mode works superbly with blu-ray, but with HD and non-HD adjustment is needed and I still have not found the magic settings (will have to re-read KMA's setting). A multitude of settings which I need to better understand.

The only drawback I found is that the intensity of the picture changes even with the screen at 15-20 degree angle (I am sitting about 4m away). The SmartTV apps are also minimal at this stage, with no support for amazon prime, netflix, hulu, etc in the US (just youtube and facebook).  Hope to see this change soon, as AppleTV does not support Amazon (and likely never will).

Otherwise very happy with TV and will post pictures later this week.

It might be possible to use the internetbrowser for Netflix.

You probably could create a favorite for easier access.

Looking forward to a feedback on this Erm..

Or you could AirPlay Netflix to your AppleTV!
