At the present, the B&O app apparently only gives the user the choice of subscribing to TuneIn if they want to hear music as their alarm. This is very unfortunate. There are way, way more of us who subscribe to Spotify than to TuneIn, at least in the USA. Furthermore, B&O should make it that I can set an alarm using music from my own home's DLNA music server. Hopefully, this will happen soon!
B&O officially gave me their response, which simply confirms what I already knew. It is not an ideal situation that customers pay top-dollar for this product, yet do not get a top user experience due to primitive software. This is their email response to me:

Dear ,
Thank you for contacting B&O Play Support regarding your A9 Mk2.
I am sorry to hear that that you are frustrated with the alarm tune. I regretfully inform you that unfortunately the notification tones on speakers that have alarm function are standardized generic tones.
However, there is also the possibility of using the internet radio as an alarm instead of the generic tones but it only via TuneIn function. We do apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused.
Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Kind regards,
