Hi All,

I recently got my very first BG 4004...and after a bit of fettling to get the platter set up right, it plays beautifully. However, I have noticed that after it’s played an LP or two, I start getting an electrical hum. It seems to get louder the longer the turntable stays plugged in to the mains.

This hum persists after the record has finished playing i.e. the turntable has switched off, but remains energized. I know almost nothing about electronics, but I assume the transformer is making this noise. Are any of you able to confirm this, or give me a view on how to diagnose? I also don’t understand why a transformer hum would get louder over the span of an hour?

Lastly, if it is the transformer, how do I go about replacing it?

Appreciate the help in advance!

Ryan
