I'm thinking of buying a set of 2nd hand pair of Beolab 3s & a Playmaker as their source. I can see there are 2 x RJ45 output sockets on the Playmaker & I presume these are normally left & right outputs to connect the speaker cables here. However, on some web pages, there are images of jjust one of the RJ45 outputs being used then with a single RJ45 to twin DIN splitter. The reason I ask is that I'd like to connect a 2nd set of speakers by using the other R45 output socket. If I did this, would I lose stereo separation of left & right as both channels would have the same output. Hope my question makes sense! Thanks in advance.
With Powerlink, each RJ45 supplies both L and R signals; you simply select which channel you want with a switch at the speaker.
Hi SouthCoast,
Welcome to Beoworld! Guy is correct, each of the two RJ45 Powerlink sockets on the PlayMaker contains both the left and right audio channels, so you can connect four speakers to the two sockets in any order. Simply set the switch on each speaker to either "Left" or "Right" so that it picks up the required audio channel.
To connect two Beolab 3 speakers to one RJ45 socket (leaving the other socket free for another pair of speakers in the future), please use one splitter and two cables as shown below:-
