Hi all,

The RIAA built in amplifier in the Beomasters are only for use with a Moving Magnet cartridge. I have hooked up my BG3300 with MMC4 which plays perfect.

Now I want to use my Thorens turntable with an Yamaha MC-9 cartridge (moving coil, MC).

Which phone preamp can I use to connect the turntable to the beomaster?

My Thorens is already serviced and looks mint after more than 30 years.

Please advice me.

I have looked to brands like Thorens, Vincent and Pro-Ject. Even with a variable gain.

Looking forward to your advice.

Any MC amplifier will do - you can pay almost any amount for one - I would suggest not too much initially!

The Pro-Ject Phono Box S  for MM and MC is "value for money" for less than EUR 150 , it is sounding good, it is well built
and offers a lot of adjustments to the "tweaker"

If you want to spend (much) more for a Phono-Preamp and like the sound of tube-amps, listen to one of their more
expensive models ...

Thanks Peter and Vienna for the suggustions.

I have just ordered a Pro-ject Box S (because of the tweaking possibilities).

Will arrive next week.

Very excited about vinyl playing on my "old" Thorens in my new Beosystem.

I will also use this box for my Beogram 3300. Perhaps someone has a good MMC cartridge in his/her closet as a spare part. Otherwise I will order a new one from S&S.
