My recently purchased Beocenter 9500 is in the repair shop, waiting diagnosis of tape drive issue. There is a separate issue, however, where I could really use the advice from the experts on this forum.
The thin, plastic frame is made up of four pieces. Two end pieces, a center top rail and a center bottom rail. The glass panel was originally attached to those plastic frames by some double-sided tape. B&O used the double-sided tape on a number of products and most likely figured it would last. Unfortunately most of the products with that tape experience a deterioration in the adhesive over time and it begins to fail.
So yes...be very careful with the glass panels. If those panels are loose then the best thing to do is take them out and store them until you can re-mount them. If I remember correctly there is a special screw that attaches the plastic frame to the Beocenter cabinet from underneath the lid (when it is in the service position).
The old double-sided tape will need to be clean off the plastic frame pieces and off the glass panel (if there is any there). Be careful not to scratch away any of the black coating on the back of the glass.
To re-attach the glass again there have been different methods recommended here on the forum. Some people have used newer types of double-sided tape (Tesa 4965 or the newer 61395 tape I think). Other people have used clear, silicone glue. It has been a few years since I did my Beocenter 9500 and 9300 units. I used the glue method and the glass is still in place.
And all four plastic frame pieces are different.Mark their positions.
And do the top glass too. It will need the same treatment.

Yes, right. My memory of the unit is thin -- I only had my hands on it for a day before taking it in for repair. It is four pieces. The left side rail is attached to unit -- now I understand that it's screwed in from the bottom, as you say next.

Thanks for the heads-up on the screw. I found it shown in the service manual, page 6.6.

Ok. Is this correct order of operations?
Glass panels are always installed and removed with the Beocenter closed (not in service position).Left side of Beocenter out over the table edge by 10cm will allow a screwdriver up from below.

Is this correct order of operations? clean off the old adhesive from the underside of the glass panel with the unit in service position, unscrew the left railing from the Beocenter cabinet tape or glue all four pieces of the railing to the underside of the glass panel with the unit in service position, screw the left railing (which is now a part of the complete glass panel/railing assembly) back into the Beocenter cabinet. Did I miss anything?

That is it. The areas that need to be clean are the areas that come into contact with each other...meaning the plastic holder and the glass panel.Also remember that the back side of the glass has a black coating that prevents light to go through (except where intended for the display).
Regarding the glueing...When I started to glue my plastic frame to the glass I used painter's tape to wrap/clamp the pieces together. While doing that I inspected and cleaned off any excess glue that tries to squeeze up. That is one advantage the double-sided tape has...no worries about messy glue.
Once the rails and glass panel are together as one piece the assembly slides into the mounting slots of the Beocenter cabinet frame. The single mounting screw is to keep the panel locked into position.

Make sure to not use any scraping at all on the glasspanels to remove the old tape. You will make scratches in the very tin paint on the glass.
Patience and a lot of hot water, and then use your thumb to "grind" the old tape off. After some time with warm water running over it, the old tape kan be peeled of quite easy with your thumb. No nails!!
It will take some time, but you will be happy with the result later.
