After 15 years I have at last managed to obtain the parts necessary to repair my beloved Beomaster 1700.  Unfortunately, in the interim I have collected a number of CDs, which cannot be played on my Beograd Cassette player.  Is it possible to plug a B & O CD player into my 1700, and if so is there a particular model I should look for?

Hi Andrew,

I don’t know what connectors you have on the BM1700, but if you have a Tape 2 input, this should do. A physical adaptor may be required with some of the below CD players.

Given that the BM1700 has no datalink or remote control, you’re better of with a Beogram CD that has its own controls:

- Beogram CDX or CDX2

- Beogram CD3300

- Beogram CD 3500 or 4500, but these have less informative displays and offer less sophisticated control than the above.

- Beogram CD50 if you can find it with its own dedicated infra-red remote.

Happy hunting,

Lawrence

There are two Beomaster 1700s though I am sure you mean the later one with the tractor bands as the other is a tuner. I would get a Beogram CDX - it is an interesting machine in that it is a 14 bit oversampling unit but it sounds wonderful - warmer than some of the machines that came after and is not remote control. It will need an adapter as it has a fixed lead with phono plugs but you could get the connector, originally made for the 1900/2400 which plugs into the tape input and allows you to attach both the CD player and tape player and choose which you want to listen to via a switch on the connector.

Edit : I found the product page!
