Hi,

i am very new to this forum.

i just wonder what is the best way to connect Playmaker to my current system of Beovision 7 + Beolab 5 + Beosound 9000.

should it be connected to beosound 9000’s aux connection?

or be connected to Beolab 5’s 2nd powerlink (beolab5 has 2 powerlinks on each)?

I also have another question.

is there anyway I can use 2 of digital connection, Beosound 9000 with digital out as well as Squeezebox digital out?

i like Beosound 9000 but streaming music is getting played more and more.

Thank you

Not sure about the BL5 question, but when I was using a Playmaker with my BS9000 I had my turntable/phono-preamp connected to the line in of the PM, and the PM connected into the aux input of my BS9000. I've since replaced the PM with an Auralic Aries Mini with a SDD drive holding all my ripped music. No input on the Auralic,so I have to use a switch to change from listening to the turntable to the Auralic.

I doubt that.

The 2xPL connections are used to support daisy chaining. See this page from the BeoLab 5 User Guide on the B&O site:

Using the Digital In or Line In to complement the PoweLinks may be a better choice.

You will find the BeoLab will prioritise one signal detection over another.

The sync cable may be another BL5 specific complication.

Hi Arkiminsu,

Welcome to Beoworld!  Please connect the PlayMaker to the Aux socket of the Beosound 9000 with this cable to play it through your speakers without needing any changes to the existing setup:-

https://soundsheavenly.com/playmaker-and-essence-wireless-streaming/84-374-rj45-to-aux-input-cable-airplay-on-your-bo-system.html#/4-length-3m

Please select "A.AUX" via the LIST button on your Beo4 remote control to play the PlayMaker.

Kind regards, Steve.

Hi,

If you don’t have control of the volume then the PlayMaker may have been connected to a Powerlink socket instead of the Aux socket.

Kind regards Steve.

Which volume control? You can set the PM to a fixed volume or variable volume, if he's talking about the PM's volume control.

Hi Jeff,

If the PlayMaker is accidentally plugged into a Powerlink socket on the Beosound 9000 instead of the Aux socket, then the sound will come through the speakers, but the Beosound 9000 volume control won't work for the PlayMaker.

This is a common issue, as the sockets are hidden under the 9000 and the plug will fit all three DIN sockets, but the 9000 can only control the PlayMaker volume when the Aux socket is used.

As you mentioned, the PlayMaker volume should work via the app as long as it has been set to Variable output.

Kind regards, Steve.
