Hi all:

If there is something/somewhere I can go to read about this properly, please let me know, if not could you please answer these questions for me:

I don't really understand what Masterlink does - is it like Sky Multiroom before Sky Multiroom and if so does it push the image from the main TV or source to other sources that you want it to run to?

I am looking at getting a Beovision 6 and this will be my bedroom TV. I have a non-HD Beovision 5 which is my main TV but as the 6 has DVD/radio capabilities, for the purposes of the system this might become the master.

Is there really a practical application for Masterlink these days or is it redundant?

Can it only be achieved via cables i.e Masterlink cables?

Thanks

Graham

Masterlink is an audio and control wired link. It can share data and audio signals only, not video. With Masterlink, you can share audio from an audio master or video master in remote link rooms. It’s a wired multi-room system that, though it’s older tech, is still valid with legacy products.

There is separate and not very good (I was disappointed in results at my home) where you run a separate coax cable for the video using a B&O black box, and where the ML carries the commands.

Requires two BVs: one is a master the other is a slave. The slave access the master’s sources.

Hi Graham,

There is a full Masterlink Handbook available in the downloads section of Beoworld (for Silver and Gold members) which gives a clear and detailed explanation of the full workings of the system.  I would recommend upgrading your membership to take advantage of this information and the many other documents available to Silver and Gold members.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.
