I am new to the B&O world. I own a Beosystem 3 and a Beovision 4-50 plasma TV. I also have a Beo4 remote control. I think I need an IR-eye to plug into the Beosystem to get the menu display on the TV. What do I need and where can I find the exact piece of hardware to make this work? Thanks to anyone that can guide me in the right direction

Hi and welcome to the forum!!

This thread may help: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/4582/205364.aspx

(or at least bump your query up a little so that those more knowledgeable than me can chip in with advice!)

Hey Guy,

Thanks for getting me started. This link explains the correct wiring for the 9 pin serial cable connecting the beosystem 3 to the TV. If I have the correct info, here is what I need next. The beosystem has no built in IR sensor to except the beam from the beo4 remote controller. What piece of hardware (sensor) do I need to plug into the beosystem 3 to be able to use the remote. Thanks again.

OldJack,

Thank you for your quick response. Do you have any leads to where I could find one to buy? The only thing that comes close is this on eBay.

"Bang & Olufsen Passive Kit with IR Eye, IR cable, & connectors - ML/MCL Converter".

Would this work the same way as the one you recommendIR eye 8083070

Here is the link to the above post. If this won't work the same as the recommended IR eye, I don't want to waste my money. Thanks for any input anyone has.

Hi JMc

I think most of the B&O IR eyes will work - it is the way they are wired that makes the difference. I bought this for my Beoystem 3 and just kept experimenting with all the cable connectuons suggested in that thread. As you can see my cable colours are different to the above (below) diagram and in different connectors.

This Company in Denmark may be able to assist with just the IR Eye without you having to shell out on items you may not want. And they seem to have the B&O style IR reciever - Beolink Eye - but also their own version - 455khz reciever - They should hopefully be able to post over toy you and let you know which will work with your Beosystem.

Stoobietoo,

You rock. Ask and I will receive. This info is exactly what I was looking for. I can't express to you and the B&O Forum what it is like for me to find a pool of knowledge such as this. Thank you all.
