Hi all,

to get 5.1 sourround sound with BL8000, BL6000, BL7.2 and BL11 I want to add a BeoSystem 3 MK1.

Before buying a BS3 I have some questions.

I have the following devices which I will connect via HDMI: DVB-S2 receiver, PS3 and Media Player

I want to connect a 65" Panasonic TV and an Epson Beamer, both HDMI inputs.

As BS3 MK1 only has DVI outputs, can I use a converter DVI+SPDIF to HDMI to connect TV and Beamer to BS3 outputs ? Which commands toogle between these two outputs ? I have both Beo4 and Beo5 but prefer Beo4 for daily use.

An IR-eye is already there for receiving commands for the T-T238 lintronic boxes.

Martin

Hello Martin,

DVI to HDMI adaptor is enough to get Picture to the TV / Beamer.

Why would you want to get sound to those? Sound is send to the Speakers via the BS.

Toogle command: FORMAT 0 (activates Cinema mode) - e.g. open second Output.

Please make sure the sw is up to date (BS), easy to check if center Speaker Can be deactivated in BS menu.

Best regards

Ralf

Hi Ralf,

you're right. I'm an idiot. Why should I send audio to TV/Beamer if I got the Beolabs Geeked

Can I do anything wrong with a BS3 MK1 ? Is AST function a must have ?

No - if you want to stay in ML, that’s perfectly ok.

Hardly anyone use/has used AST.

However, if your screen is on a different wall than your tv, it’s nice to have this possibility.

But don’t forget - you will need a Beo5/6 for this.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Thanks MM, no need for AST here as the sreen comes straight down in front of the TV on the same wall.

I will also stay on ML as I don't think that I will buy NL devices in near future.

Do you know what the latest SW for BS3 is ?

Since you have some Lintronic code-converter boxes, you can connect a Lintonic box to the CINEMA port on the BeoSystem 3. You can program the Lintronic box to respond to the CINEMA ON and CINEMA OFF modes to send out IR signals (which you program into the Lintronic box) to control the projector, screen, lighting, etc. This makes a very smooth transition into the projector mode. You have control over the delays. There are instructions on doing this on the Lintronic site. You use the pins for DATA 1 and DATA 2. Note that you must cross some pins over to others to correspond correctly. You can do this using a breakout box.
