Hi,
I have problem with my CD 50. After switching on the CD and pressing the open button, it opens and closes tray without interruption.
Anyone had such a problem, where to look for the cause ?? Switch, old grease, gears ??
My cat "Shelby" tried to solve the problem but it is too difficult .

But... after one week I had the same story. This time I took a comprehensive job. I took an electric diagram and multimeter.
The IC 310 processor controls the drive, including opening and closing. It's the one in yellow circle with numbered legs (not obvious for everyone).
The processor uses 5V as an input / output signal. Sends 5V from leg 14 by pressing Open to the motor and from leg 13 to the motor in the other direction when closing the tray. The same signals are sent also when something does not work like in my CD50.
The processor knows what is the CD position, receiving signals from two switches, S301 and S303.
When we open the tray to insert a CD:
The processor gives a 5V signal to the motor from the 14th foot. On S301 pin 2, we always have 5V. When the tray ejects, pin 2 closes pin 3 and on the processor's leg 18 gives 5V, then the processor stops the drive of the tray.
When we put on the CD and close the tray:
The processor gives a 5V signal to the motor from the 13th foot. The tray closes and should go in such a position that switch S303 closes pins 1 and 2. Pin 1 always has 5V, pin 2 gives 5V per foot 23 processor saying that the tray is in place. When the processor does not receive this signal, it will send the command again to open the tray and re-close.
When the CD tray closes properly, along with the signal from the S303 switch, the processor also gets a signal from S301. This time, the 2 (5V) pin closes with pin 1, signaling to the processor leg 19 that the disk is clamped in place. When there is no signal, it will also open and close again.
To the set we also have a signal from the photocell that the plate is inserted on the processor's foot 17.
Only when all signals reach the processor, the state 5V on the feet 17, 19, 23, the processor turns on the CD drive and the laser starts reading the contents.
The most common problem is the oxidation of switch contacts S301 and S303. You should then clean them.
The second problem is the wrong position of the tray, which stops too early without letting the turning gears run the switches, because someone used the force to open. You should pull out the tray and place it again in a good position.
