Just wondering if there are any B&O fanatics who are good at repairing. I may be out of my depth on this one a little.
Basically transport doesnt clear discs
When Glass door is Closed it wont play at all - when open it would play but sounded like it was catching on the discs as it moved under.
And just now - dismantling the cd - clamp i managed to unleash two tiny springs in the clamp lift and I simply can't for the life of me get them back in.
Its almost midnight here in nz so it will be 8 hrs before i get to replyPicture of springs / pin etc

Can't help with the reassembly sorry, but that pin and spring hinge assembly doesn't need to come apart for service.
It is very likely that the laser pickup is the problem with no CD playback, they do fail. There used to be a kit for the MK1 to upgrade the whole cd assembly and decoder board to the later type, it had the CD clamp, mounting plastics, counterweight, cd mech and servo board, but this kit is long obsolete..
For the rubbing issue :
First things first, check the transport orientation screws are set for the position you have the player in, see the user manual. There are different options for horizontal and vertical positions.
Secondly is is possible the loading mechanism lever has bent, this causes the cd sledge to hit discs as it moves position, as the cd mechanism is not fully retracted.
The lever is a die cast part and I'm not sure if it's still available as a spare part, heres a thread which mentions it.

Good luck.
I found those springs etc didnt need removal the moment i took them out !!! Putting them back in is going to be a mission as I think i may have to dismantle this considerably further. The playback isnt a problem currently, the laser works but the system doesn't work when the glass door is closed. Door open even a fraction (by rotating the gearbox) - it works. So i'm guessing one of the LDR's on the gearbox is playing up.As for the mech and the magnesium bar. I think I read the same somewhere else. Its weird that the bar would bend but the consensus is it needs bending back a mm or two.I've got to take a break from working on this for a few days as I destroyed the kitchen for most of last week with a beosound in bits, books, manuals and laptop, cables and remotes everywhere. Lol.
Oh and the arrowed markers on the back of the carriage were correct for vertical use ( which is how it was 99% of the time) and I changed them to the horizontal position when working on it on the flat.So I don't think that had any significant effect. But thanks for considering and replying.
The CD unit is mounted on 4 springs for shock absorbing vibration etc`, If the CD unit has been replaced it`s vital these springs are put back correctly or the spin motor centre spindle will be to high which will clip the cd`s as the transport moves. The clamper springs are best fitted with the mechanism set for flat position otherwise it`s more difficult to fit them. The cross bracket is hard metal, it would take force to bend that. The slider arm has a Teflon cover on the actuataor. the older ones do get a bit battered which can also result in clipping of cds by the spin motor. The mk3 laser comes with new cross bracket, springs, plastic sub mount and the slider arm. Test mode 71 and essential after any repair to a 9000. If the repair is not accurate the test mode will fail. It is also essential to take anti static precautions when working in this area of a CD player. Unless you have considerable experience of these units as a service technician it is best not to attempt anything as repair will certainly be more expensive. I`m from Scotland with many years of experience with the brand. If you reside in Scotland and need a product repair out of warranty get in touch.
I've found a B&O Engineer that works independently in Auckland New Zealand..
He has the unit currently and i'm hoping he can resolve.

Thanks for the good ideas to bring it. I know a lot more. ::P
Incidentally the problem with it was the arm shown in this image.item no. 9134https://www.dropbox.com/s/plqrwvnz3xmgfak/9000-arm.jpg?dl=0
