What is the best product to use glueing these cover plates back on? Also, what is your advice on cleaning and prepping both surfaces before applying glue. As always thanks for your help.

I run the aluminum top under hot water and rub off the gunk with my fingers. The plastic I use hot water on a rag to rub the gunk away. Goo gone works too but I prefer the water method.
