Hi all,

This afternoon I will pick up a Playmaker.

What is the best solution to connect the Playmaker to my BS4 in a masterlink-setup?

Can I buy a RJ45 to Powerlink cable or a RJ45 to 2x RCA?

The powerlinksocket in my BS4 is free, the aux-in is used by my turntable and Yamaha network player (via a switch).

Please any suggestions?

With regards,

You need RJ45 to 2x RCA.

No other way is possible.

Powerlink on your BS4 is no input.

Thanks Hiort.

Just picked up the Playmaker with the cables you suggested from my dealer.

I'm going to install the Playmaker this Sunday with a networkcable in it (more stable than wireless).

Now back to work . . .

Two suggestions:

- If the PM is close to your BSd4 set "A.OPT" on the PM either to "0" or to "4"
to avoid "double" reaction  of PM and BSd 4.

- To set PM to fixed voume use "A.SETUP" from "LIST", repeatedly "GO" till "S.STORE"
is shown in display , then "0", "GO"

You can use the powerlink as an input. That is what I'm using on mine :-)

Yes, of course if the PL-socket (DIN 8pin or RJ45) is on a speaker it is an INPUT!
But PL-sockets  (DIN 8pin or RJ45) on TV, audio or link components and on the ones
on the Playmaker are OUTPUTS!

You can use one of the powerlink sockets on the beosound 4 as an aux input. Like I said I'm doing this.

BeoNet84:

You can use one of the powerlink sockets on the beosound 4 as an aux input. Like I said I'm doing this.

Since both OUTPUTS of a BSd 4 are internally connected (paralell) you're simply (mis)using this connection
to send a signal to the other socket.

You're "looping through" without any chance to control volume and sound of the source via the BSd 4.
If you play eg radio on BSd 4 and start to stream via the Playmaker the sound of both sources will mix
as you can not select the sources!

This can't be called an INPUT - technically your solution is the same as using a T or Y-cable!

I did not say this is the correct way to do it, i was just stating that you can use one of the powerlink "outputs" as an "input" if needed. As you stated you could not. It also lets me have 2 aux inputs without the need for switchers or phono couplers ect. I have full control of volume this way also.

As for overlapping it is not that much of a problem for "me" as I don't norm select 2 things to play at the same time.
