Hello everybody, I'm a newby of the beoworld, I bought last week a beomaster 5500 and two speakers beovox 800, to have a small hi fidelity system to use mainly for the AUX.
I use as remote a Beolink 1000, and thank you to this forum i got how to get to the tape tape 2 and Aux
the problem is that in this mode also when I disconnect the aux cable (Im not using the powerlink plug)
there is a terribly constant background noise and sometimes disappear but then is back, is really evident when there is some classical music on-

PS the second channel is mute is this depending by some regulation from the original remote or what can be?
I'm seriously demotivated ...
Bad decoupling capacitors in the regulator circuits.Bad speaker relay or inserted headphones plug.
Martin
Sounds like I need to unmount the unit and check if the capacitors are in good shape?
The speakers seems don't make the same noise with the radio but just in Aux and they work pretty fine with other units, there is no plug of the headphone inserted and basically when I plug the headphone in the front 3,5 jack hole, the unit does not switch off the speakers, is this normal ?
Also with headphone I hear the same noise so I would definitely exclude the speakers.
Is there any topic about this problem I can rely on? Should I ask a service center (is it very expensive?)?
You cannot see if capacitors are in good shape. You will have to take them out and measure them, but if they are still the originals it's safe to say they will be bad by now.
Inserting headphones should mute speaker set 1 (speakers in the same room) - as should pressing MUTE on the front panel briefly. You shouldbe able to hear the speaker relay click in a silent room.Speaker set 2 is muted locally in linked rooms.
Thanks Martin so much, I think I will return this unit and purchase another one, I got it from an ebayer not so honest and was not as cheap, so basically with little luck I can try get something more performing or maybe same unit in better shape.
