Hi all, could anyone with a beosound core tell me if it's possible to use the beo4 remote or beoremote one to skip tracks with chromecast (after playback has started) when playing to a network link device? And likewise if streaming from Spotify?

Also do the core's music sources each appear as a separate music source over network link (connecting to it from a BV11 for example) or does it show as one device?

Many thanks, Rob.

I imagine that you mean, when a BS Core is connected to a BV11!

You can not expand anything chromecasted (nor join in to) to the BV11.

You can easily expand a Spotify Connect session (or join in to) to the BV11.

And you can skip tracks, pause/play with the remote (controlling the BV11) - you will see the meta data on the screen.

(I don’t use Deezer - but it will be similar to this).

TuneIN, Line-in, Deezer, Bluetooth and Music/DLNA will appear as seperate sources in the source list (with a link icon attached).

You can also join in to an AirPlay session from the BV (with the right settings in the Core).

You can skip, pause/play - but there will be no metadata shown.

This is how my Essence behaves - the Core will be the same.

Hi ebnrob

I have a Core integrated with my BV11 controlled with a Beo4. I can confirm that it behaves just as stated by MM above.

The only issue I have had, is how this integrated setup is handled by the Bang & Olufsen app. However, this is progressing in the right direction in the current beta test.

Best regards - Dyssegaard

But beware - integrated and connected is a bit different.

With the Core/Essence integrated the tv is using the speakers of the tv.

And activating a source of the Core/Essence will wake up the tv from standby.

It acts as a part of the tv, so to speak - and is therefore treated like a tv in the app.

When you - instead - want to use the Core in another room with its own speakers, the Core will be connected to the tv (when setup so).

The sources of the Core can be used everywhere in the NL-network.

Note: even if integrated (to a tv) it  can still be connected to another NL device etc.

Thanks MM and Dyssegaard.

That's good that other speakers can join the core's sources and control playback to some degree, shame it doesn't present chromecast as a source on NL though. I also have an NL/ML converter so I believe adding a core would allow me to map TuneIn to N.Radio on Masterlink instead of my current mapping of the BV11's TV Radio to N.Radio. This would remove the dependency on the TV for digital radio. Can TuneIn presets be programmed and selected on the beo4 number pad? I wonder what would happen with Spotify if I mapped it to N.Music on ML.. Would I need to start playback from Spotify on my phone first or can Play be pressed on the beo4 to resume a playlist?

Many thanks,

Rob.
