Hi everyone! New member here. Longtime B&O admirer, first time repair-er....
Recently got a Beogram 5005. One of the plastic clips that holds the larger tangential arm unit rail is broken, so the rail is unsupported and moves around.
Luckily the clip was still in the case and intact, so I should be able to glue it back in place. Because I know it'll undergo some potential force as the arm moves back and forth I'd like to use the best glue for the job.
Since different sorts of plastics react differently to adhesives, I was wondering if anyone had advice on the best glue to use on the plastic bits of a Beogram 5005.

Ahh... busted plastics, the bane of repairpeople the world over.
At my day job, I fix cars and the amount of busted plastic stuff is incredible. Normal glues and "super" glues are useless on most plastics, and a glued part is almost always much too weak to withstand the stresses that broke it in the first place.
We will either use a plastic welder with plastic welding rods (gotta pick the correct plastic) or more often the newer epoxy cements, such as 3M 04747 quick-setting epoxy. If the part is under considerable stress, I generally back the repair with small pieces of metal cut, drilled and bent to shape.
This technique worked well when I rebuilt a thoroughly destroyed cassette deck in my Beocenter. The plastics involved were black, brittle, weak and cracking all over. Gobs of epoxy and metal reinforcement where possible brought the deck back to life.
Reinforcement of the damaged area is key to success.

Thank you for the advice! I wasn't able to nail down exactly what sort of plastic it is, so I ended up going with a strong epoxy and so far, it's working like a charm.
