Hello Comrades

Well after that massive party my white beolab 9 covers are filthy... no amount of upholstery cleaner seems to get them back to perfect..

So im going to stick them in the bath with some fabric whitener.......

Wish me luck!!!!!!

David

Just make sure you unplug the speakers from the mains before dunking them in the bath - water and electricity can be a lethal mix.Whistle

Hey David,

Depending on the cost, it may be a great idea to buy a new set of covers for your BL9s so that they loook fab again AND keep the old covers for each and every time that you have a party!!!

@ Paul W, it was awesome..   Took a week to clean up

We started at 6.30pm.. it was a chinese garden party theme complete with Jazz Singer (Mary Kiani- was a big star in the UK in the 90's- you can google or youtube her! ) performing and Chinese Lion with traditional musicians!

We finished about 4.30am... with bodies still around the house when i awoke.....

How coffee liqueur found its way all over my lovely white calvin klein quilt cover I have no idea.... Though I do belive there were a couple of very attractive Danes sitting on the bed  :P

So next time you're in Sydney Paul... let me know!

Yes gentlemen... I do have the original black covers the speakers came with which will certainly be staying on for our next shin dig on Boxing Day. I'm just keen to not have to buy a third pair!!!

However, after a few hours soaking in the bath and a light rub with a microfibre cloth they are almost perfect... A few marks at the bottom where they have been scuffed... So a second soaking I think.......

Hello

So, white beolab 9 covers taken off. Soaked in bathtub with washing powder and 'napi san' (a optical whitener for whites).

Soaked for several hours and lightly rubbed with a microfibre cloth ('enjo' bathroom cloth to be precise).

THE RESULT: pretty close to perfect, a few tiny little marks but you'd have to be on your hands and knees and up very close. MINTY WHITE allover again.

Hope this is useful for someone else wanting to clean up their belob 9/5 white speaker frets.

Best Wishes

David

Hehe, I wouldn't mind - I love Sydney and your party sounded fab!

I've a question you may be able to answer seeing as how you've taken the grills off your Lab 9's for cleaning.

Can you tell if the drivers have rubber or foam surrounds?

Despite the awesomeness of B&O items like the new BV11 and Dave's BV 9, I'm still in awe of my new V1-40 and am having nagging thoughts about speakers to go with it - I dream about Lab 5's but they're too much money in one basket for the time being, so next down the rung is the Lab 9.

I've never bought second hand HiFi but I'm toying with the idea to save on cost as the 5's rather than 9's are my ultimate dream speaker, but then again I'm a fussy sod and if I bought 9's I doubt I'd ever part with them - they'd simply move to the rear channels if I eventually bought fives.

So there's an argument for biting the bullet and buying new too; also, with second hand foam is an issue with older speakers as it rots - hence my query re the surrounds in Lab 9's.  If you or any one else is able to comment on that, it'd be greatly appreciated - thank you... :-)

For some odd reason the Beovirus is biting and I really want to put some speakers together with the V1-40 to complete the system, and get my existing separates up for sale.

Maybe it's because of the sheer enjoyment I get out of the V1 on both picture quality grounds (currently using it as a monitor in my AV setup) and also when using it to listen to music streamed from my mac to the connected Apple TV3 - the sound is truly excellent! - and I just keep wanting 'more'.... LOL

It doesn't help when B&O send you Xmas sale emails with discounts off demo stock etc either.... lol

BTW I sent you an PM/email from here re the 'party' etc....

Best Regards

John... Cool

John, just a crazy thought (hmmm 3 beers) but I wonder what a pair of A9s would sound like.

Yes, I know they are designed to be a single speaker with some stereo capability ... but I wonder what having that much bass would sound like Smile

I think a number of A9s would make the ultimate home party speaker arrangement throughout the house.

I asked the question on another thread and it was soundly explained that this would be a terribly bad idea !

My goodness... all this interest in the cute Danes at my party!!!!!!!!!! There was an even cuter little redhead that somehow managed to loose a number of pieces of clothing.....

Anyway... @John.. I do believe the surrounds on the 9's are foam. But a balck pair of speaker covers on and haven't taken them off to look. The white ones are put away til after our Boxing Day party... I dont want to have to clean them again!!!!!
