What can I do with a beomedia 5, I'm lucky enough to be getting one but I have an older system overture, lab 4000 and a few passive kits, what would people recommend is it worth pursuing putting into the system
You’ll be able to use it for n.music and n.radio.

Griebel:This device does not exist. Did you mean BeoMedia 1 or BeoMaster 5?
Livingroom: BL3, BL11, BV11-46 Kitchen: Beosound 1 GVA, Beocom 2 Bathroom: M3 Homeoffice: M3, Beocom 2 Library: Beosound Emerge, Beocom 6000 Bedroom: M5, Essence remote Travel: Beoplay E8 2.0, Beoplay EQ, Beoplay Earset
If it is indeed a solitary BeoMaster 5 then it is very useful in 2 ways;
1. to replace a defunct unit to make a beosound 5 function again.
2. On its own as a step to reach a cupboard.
Connected to any other electrical device, on its own, it makes a chocolate teapot look like a nobel prize winner for technology.
Its the one that came with the beosound 5, I know it has the same functions as the beomedia, and yes I will admit it was not the greatest device, it I could get a beosound 5 head unit it would make a lot more sense but I think they are to expendibe. Maybe the suggestion of using as step is not a bad thing lol, maybe see if I can sell it to someone that has a fault head unit :)
It works the same as a beomedia 1 in this format - just plug the bottom dvi cable into the tv (or beosystem) and configure it using the setup menus.
As mentioned, you can use it for n.music and n.radio - the music could be on the disk or on a Fileserve over dlna
