Ever since the decision from B&O and spotify, I have not been able to use my Beoplay A9 Mk1 speaker.

In an attempt to start using it again, I ordered a chromecast audio in order to listen to stream music to the speaker through the in line sockets using the chromecast as a intermediate link.

I have, however, discovered an issue after setting up the chromecast; no sound is played.

First time I ran the setup for the chromecast, I heard the test sound in the speaker, played from the chromecast.

When I completed the setup, I tried streaming music through spotify, but no music was coming out of the speaker.

I tried streaming some sounds/music from other medias, but same result; no music.

I tested that it was possible for me to stream music on my computer to the beoplay directly through smartshare, and the speaker plays the music perfectly fine in this case.

I decided to format the chromecast and try setting it up once again.

This time there was no sound played during the test setup.

I decided to complete the setup anyway and when I streamed music through spotify, no music was coming out of the speaker (as expected, but I hoped for a miracle)

I am rather confused how this can be.

One question I have though; how does the speaker know whether it should make use of in line audio or wifi audio?

I hope that you can help

Take the aux cable from the Chromecast and plug into your phone. Do you get sound then?

Hi hangeland92,

Welcome to Beoworld!

Please turn up the Chromecast volume to maximum, then you should get a normal sound level to the A9 speaker.

Kind regards, Steve.

I tried Connecting to another Phone through Aux - with no luck. However, I borrowed a chinese speaker with aux socket and I got that one working!

I have tried increasing the volume to Max - maybe my in line sockets are broken?

Very possible iPhone don't have enough line level to wake up inputs on the A9. Connect a product like a DVD player with a "proper" audio line out product and check that. If the case, you could find an old docking station with line out for the A9. Don''t know they still make those. Good luck.

I do not get why the phone should not have enough line level, when I am streaming through the chromecast? :)

Okay I do not own any of that, so I have no way of testing.

I have been thinking more about it - and to me it seems like I am missing an option of switching between sources, i.e. airplay, line-in etc, should there not be an option for this?

Maybe here's some help available for you:

Chromecast Audio settings:

Spotify: No Sound with Chromecast Issue:

Beo 4 remote control of Beoplay A9 MK1:
http://bogo.custhelp.com/app/answers/answer_view/a_id/7412/loc/en_GB

(I don't know if the MK1 has that feature, too: Line-In Sensitivity B&O products (A9 MK2 ...):

If you have a CD-Player etc. you can try to connect it with a standard RCA/Cinch-cable to the Line-In of the A9 as the CD-Players output level is high enough for those tests (and please adjust the A9's volume to a very low setting before hitting "Play" ;-))

Did anyone get a solution to this? There’s seemingly no line in option in the settings for MK1/?
