In response to this picture of the A9 connections. Did anyone notice the optical connector just above the ethernet socket?
There is no red glow from the connector so I'm assuming it is an input but there are no references to it being used in the current firmware.
Can anyone shed any further light on this (pardon the pun!)

By the look of the phallic looking (laughs) wall bracket I think it will block the port partially which will definitely have a hand in tuning the bass alignment.
Agree about the part on the ear height issue but even with the wooden legs all you just have to do is to stand further away from the speakers to fully appreciate the sound because the whole speaker and the drive units themselves are tilted upwards so the sound projected will eventually reach a an reach optimum height after a certain length is reached.
I have seen in real last Saturday. The wall bracket is too big and large. There is enough space for the bass port. I don't like personally this part. I prefer to wait for nice legs in aluminium from STB before buying the A9.

I have had second thoughts about wall mounting the A9, not because of the fear of blocking the bass port, but it just fits nicely in the corner on its legs. (Not the position on the photo)
But as you were interesseret in the port and wall backet I took a few photos. Im no audio expert, and havn't done any real testing, but I couldn't hear any difference. The wall mount is partly blocking the port, but as the pictures show, there is some space around the bracket. I can easily get my fingers behind the wall bracket inside the port. So I wouldn't really worry about that.

Thanks Mikael, that's just what I wanted to see - it doesn't look like a calculated blockage of the bass port in an attempt to modify the bass response, they're just making use of the slot as a mechanical fixing method - Cheers!
The port width is bigger than than the distance from the port to the wall. No modification to bass alignment? I don't think so. And you have to factor in the narrowing of the port as well with the bracket inserted.
Anyway I now officially declare that the A9 is a steal. A steal! The detail retrieval is gobsmacking and listening to it on the stands, hardwired to router with the port blocked at a suitable distance in a small room with my head smacked right at the center of the speaker, it beats the old Beosound 9000 with Beolab 8000s combo hands down. I am comparing this with the same record I used to listen to with the old system btw. And I think a break-in period is necessary for the A9 too ? I never thought I would say this because I didn't think the break-in rule would apply to B&O but my impressions towards the A9 have definitely taken a paradigm shift from fresh out of the box up to now.

As I said I don't think the narrowing of the bass port by the bracket is a calculated or relied upon port size reduction, especially given the relatively poor fit shown in the pictures. If it was intended to block the port in any measured way I would have expected it to fit the perifery of the aperture better than it appears.
