Hello, new to this forum.  I have a Beosystem  2500 and have been given a Beolab 2000 with masterlink cable.  How can I get this to work with my Beosystem?  Thank you.

Unfortunately BS2500 and BL2000 are from two different eras, Master Control Link and Masterlink respectively.

However, if you get hold of a Beolink Converter 1611 or 1614 you can still connect them.  See here: https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=983

You would need a 7 pin Aux Link cable to go from the BS2500 to the converter, and then a Masterlink cable from the converter to the BL2000.

And welcome to the forum!

(Edited to remove ref to 1614 -this is the older type that will not work with the BC2500 apparently)

Thank you for your reply, will search my box of bits to see if I have one.  Hopefully the sound from it will be worth the disruption to my current set up!

If you haven't got one they pop up on eBay quite often.  There's one on there now with a start price of £50, but with a bit of patience you should find one for about half that.

Hi

I'm no expert, but would one of these

https://soundsheavenly.com/search?controller=search&s=beolab+2000

connected to a 7 pin DIN plug to 3.5mm socket lead not work?

I'm sure Steve will be along shortly!

Cheers

Nigel

That would work as a speaker in the same room as the BS2500, but I was assuming that the BL2000 was to be placed in a separate room and fully controllable via a B&O remote.

Ideally to be placed in the next room, but can move other speakers if need be.  Have found beolink 1611 in my box of bits, so will give it a try.

Hi,

Yes, there are two options for linking the Beolab 2000, as mentioned in the thread above:-

1) Minijack to Masterlink cable, this will go into the headphone socket of the 2500 system, so it will turn off the main speakers.  You won't have remote control of the main system from the Beolab 2000 if they are in different rooms,

2) Beolink Converter (this must carry the full type number 1161166 as this is the only version that can work as an ML driver) - this connects to the Aux socket of the 2500 system and you get full remote control of the main system and both sets of speakers will work.

I am happy to help with cables for either option.

Hope this helps, any questions, please ask.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

I would like to add that if you go for option 2) you can still use the Aux socket of your 2500 for Line In to have audio sources connected to the 2500. Soundsheavenly has a splitter cable available  for that purpose (use AUX for Line In and to connect to a ML converter). Works like a charm :-)
