Essence color in app?

Yesterday I reset and reinstalled my Essence. While going through the steps to reinstall I received an option to select the color of the Essence. However, it only gave me one option, black. I do not remember ever seeing this option before. Has it always been there or is it new? And why have a color selection option when all Essences are the same color and the app only offers one color, black. Thanks!

Is the picture still the Essence remote (Wheel)?

I don’t know the answer to the question although originally the Wheels were going to have various coloured base plates.

And I am not sure I want to experiment either !

Why black when the essence is white though

Perhaps it refers to the black trim/circle between the outer ring and the inner white circle?
