Hi everyone, I have a short question: can the sound of a HDMI source on the Beovision 7-32 MK V be distributed over masterlink? Or do I also need to connect analogue sound connections (e.g. via the scart).
Background: I currently own a 7-32 MK3 and play music through my AppleTV (4th generation) throughout the house using a HDMI > HDMI+sound splitter, but I would like to get rid of that device once I upgrade to a 7-32 MK V. There are too many converters in my TV cabinet. I have found in the reference manual on the B&O site only some statements about digital video and sound not being distributed, but that concern the older 7-32 models without HDMI. In the addendum of the reference manual that does concern HDMI it only states that the HDMI video cannot be distributed via the masterlink /RF amplifier, but that does not matter to me.
Thank you in advance, your input is much appreciated!

DMacri:I’m fairly certain you have to use the analog connections to route audio through Masterlink and/or MCL to link rooms. That seems to be how my BS3 works.
I thought my other option was to buy a beovision 7-40 mk3 or higher, with the integrated Beosystem 3 inside to allow distribution of digital sources, but are you sure your beosystem needs the analogue connection?
You can not distribute digital connected (via HDMI) sources from a BSys3-based tv to the ML chain.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
I also called some dealers and browsed some more on Beoworld: it appears there is no way to distribute the sound of HDMI sources over masterlink. Not with BS3, not with BV7-55 MK2, not with BV8 or BV10 - they all need a converter to de-embedd the audio from the HDMI. Only netlink products can do this (but delay, converters to Masterlink and to MCL... not worth it at all).
My best option is to get a HDMI matrix switch with audio de-embedder to have the correct signal, for example the already discontinued https://atlona.com/product/at-hd4-v42/, which can also be used to distribute the other HDMI source to another TV.
We live and learn with B&O! Thank you for your input. If I am wrong, please let me know and post a schematic of your setup!
Just to let you know: this is possible with a BSys4-based product.
New generation, new possibilities.
Here airplayed stuff to my ATV on my Avant and listening/joining in on my V1-32

But rhe BV8 will have to be active/on to do this?
Or can you just send sound to the ATV via AirPlay and then listen to it on the ML device/the BS4?
After all it is probably only possible because you involve the converter - in a pure ML network it won’t work, or?

I actually would like to stick with a beovision 7 model. 32 or 40 inch. And my setup is MCL, with only the TV being ML. So I do not require digital music over the ML/MCL, but I would like to have a sinple setup with a beovision > hdmi connected sources, and listen to the sound of the tv on other rooms (listen when the commercial break is over while getting snacks in the kitchen, or listening to music through apple TV in the study). For financial and aesthetic reasons I do not want to go to an NL setup (yet).
Why not just go ahead with the TV upgrade, test out the audio distribution and if it doesn't work simply re-connect the hdmi audio extractor that you have at the moment?
You say that there are 'too many converters in your TV cabinet', but so what? If it makes you feel better, mine (supplying a BV6-26) looks like this:
(The cabinet door is normally closed so I don't let it worry me )
